In weather this hot, even a little movement wears me out and the energy just drains away. So this time I decided to do some proper stamina-boosting and went looking for a duck restaurant. It's Grill Duck (그릴덕) in Okgil-dong, known as a duck place near Starfield Bucheon.

It's a handy stop after grocery shopping or browsing at Starfield Bucheon, so access was fine. Most of all, I'd heard the half-and-half duck, which gives you both duck bulgogi and plain grilled duck in one order, is the popular pick, so I went with high hopes. There was a wait on the weekend, since so many people come. I could see why it draws everyone from family dinners to dates and group gatherings.
Parking and the weekend wait at Grill Duck
Grill Duck has its own parking lot behind the building, so there was no parking worry, and we got in after about 30 minutes of waiting on a weekend evening. It's in Okgil-dong, close to Starfield Bucheon, so it's easy to fit in before or after shopping.

Getting there by car was easy, and with the dedicated lot behind the building, parking was no stress.
We went on a weekend evening and guests were already waiting; we got in after about 30 minutes. Customers kept arriving while we waited, so you can tell right away it's a popular duck spot.

I'm a non-smoker, but!! there's a smoking area for smokers too.
Grill Duck's dining room and self-serve bar
The inside of the Okgil-dong restaurant was spacious and clean, and the tables were spaced generously, so it didn't feel cramped even at busy times. With a self bar and baby chairs, it suits family gatherings and company dinners too.

The interior was spacious and tidy. It was a busy time, but the tables were spaced far enough apart that it didn't feel stuffy, and we could eat comfortably. Lots of families were there, and I saw couples on dates too. It works for groups as well, so it suits anyone looking for a spot for a family gathering or company dinner.
They have baby chairs too~
I especially liked the self bar on one side of the restaurant. You can help yourself to plenty of ssam vegetables (perilla leaves, lettuce and so on) that go well with duck, plus basic side dishes, and it was kept clean, which made it convenient.
What is Grill Duck's 800g half-and-half duck?
Grill Duck's half-and-half duck (반반오리) is a popular 800g set that comes with duck jumulleok (marinated duck bulgogi) and plain grilled duck. It's perfect if you can't pick just one, and getting two flavors at once was its biggest plus.

What we ordered was Grill Duck's popular half-and-half duck.

The half-and-half duck comes with both duck jumulleok and plain grilled duck, and at 800g in total it was quite generous. It's a great setup for people who can't settle on a single dish, and being able to enjoy two flavors at once was its biggest advantage.

Duck bulgogi: sweet, savory marinade
The duck bulgogi had an impressive sweet yet savory seasoning. It wasn't too intense, so anyone can eat it without trouble, and it's the kind of flavor people tend to agree on. The sauce went well with the duck, and it tasted even better wrapped in ssam vegetables.

Plain grilled duck: chewy and clean-tasting
The plain grilled duck had that chewy texture duck is known for, and I really liked it. The more you chew, the more nutty flavor comes out, and it's clean-tasting enough that your chopsticks keep going back. If you like duck's distinctive texture, you'll be happy with this.
My personal favorite combo was wrapping it in a perilla leaf with pickled chili peppers and green onion kimchi. So good ❤️
Do Grill Duck's summer buckwheat noodles go with duck?
Grill Duck's summer specialty, mul-memil makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles in broth), features a cold broth with ice crystals and chewy buckwheat noodles, and it paired really well with the half-and-half duck. Eating only duck in hot weather can feel heavy, and the noodles took that heaviness away.

What we ordered alongside the duck was the summer specialty, mul-memil makguksu. The icy broth with ice crystals really cooled me down from the heat, and the buckwheat noodles were chewy and satisfying.

One bite and my mouth felt refreshed, and it went well with the duck, so I was glad we ordered them together. If you visit in summer, I'd definitely recommend the half-and-half duck with mul-memil makguksu.
Is Grill Duck worth the wait? Verdict and tips
Grill Duck, the duck restaurant near Starfield Bucheon where I went for summer stamina food, was quite satisfying. The generous 800g half-and-half duck let us enjoy both duck bulgogi and plain grilled duck, and I enjoyed both the chewy grilled duck and the savory duck bulgogi. The cold mul-memil makguksu on top made the meal feel more complete.
