Korean lash lift with under-perm in Songpa, Seoul: Salon de Van

There's a famous spot in Songpa known for great lash lifts, and that's Salon de Van!! It's been building regulars for years now — the kind of place you can't visit just once. If you're into lash lifts, go go.

I've been really into self-care lately, so today I went for a lash lift after a long while. It's been maybe 3 years? My lashes had started feeling a bit thin so I took a break, but lately I've gotten too lazy for the lash curler, so I went for a lash lift + black tinting perm for that mascara-plus-curler look, haha.

What is the inside of Salon de Van like?

First, let me brag about the owner... there were so many certificates on display. That's when I felt she was truly serious about lashes.

Seeing that made me think 'I can trust my lashes to this person,' haha, so I wasn't worried at all. She's popular though, so booking took forever, ugh.

There are two beds, but it seems like appointments are usually taken 1:1. The inside is clean and pleasant. The owner runs the place alone, so she seemed quite busy. It's not a big shop, but it's so clean and cozy that it makes you sleepy... haha.

Since you have to lie down for a long time, she put a pillow under my legs so I could relax. I really got sleepy, haha. I went after work too, so I just lay back comfortably and got it done.

How early do you need to book at Salon de Van?

Actually I'd visited once before too, and it was satisfying then as well, so I came back haha. The owner's skill really hasn't changed.

So booking is genuinely tough — if you don't reserve well ahead, you can't get your preferred time. Since the cycle is about every 6 weeks, I'd recommend booking early.

The prices are more reasonable than you'd think. In Songpa, places that do lash lifts this well and this long-lasting are rare, I think.

After — the result and how long it took

This is exactly what I wanted!! Salon de Van's owner really delivers. How can a change be this dramatic. I'm going to go bare-faced without makeup from now on. The whole thing takes about an hour total. There's chemical processing involved, so you should come with plenty of time to spare.

The owner was so kind and made me feel at ease, and her hands were truly skilled, so I got sleepy again. At some places the chemicals used are so strong the smell is awful, but not here, so I recommend it... haha. The price isn't bad for this either.

I think it'd be fine to just do the lash lift without the under-perm. The under part doesn't give a dramatic change even if you just do it with cosmetics, but the lash lift itself does make a difference, so I highly recommend that part!!

The treatment time went by quickly too. My eyes were less uncomfortable than I expected, and I'll keep visiting regularly from now on. Some people do this themselves at home, but it really requires technical skill, so please leave it to the professionals... An owner like this has golden hands, so any lashes would turn out well with her lift. My lashes are long so it doesn't matter for me, but she's also skilled at extensions apparently, so if you're interested, definitely visit!!!

Tip — always get the black tinting perm

If I had one tip, it's to always get the black tinting perm. It gives you a defined, mascara-like look and makes your eyes look bigger. Apparently it also has a nourishing effect, so skipping it would actually be a loss, right? It's only ₩5,000 extra, so that's a great deal too... haha.

How it held up after a week

I really hope this lasts a long, long time...!!

+ One-week update. It's still holding up exactly like day one, so I'm very satisfied. My eyes sting a little sometimes when washing my face, but that's not often, and it's great for those really lazy days. Not using a lash curler for makeup is so convenient, and it saves time too — good, good.
