Today I want to introduce Mentsuru, a ramen spot in Gwangjin near Children's Grand Park!
Where is Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch, and when is it open?
Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch is just a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Children's Grand Park Station! It's very close to Sejong University, Children's Grand Park, and Konkuk Entrance, so it seems like a great spot to eat with family or friends 😋
Business hours are daily 11:00–21:30 (last order at 21:00).
Is there a wait at Mentsuru at 6pm on a weekday?
I visited around 6pm on a weekday, and while there was no wait, the place was pretty full! The bar table, 2-seat tables, and 4-seat tables were arranged nicely so there felt like plenty of seating. As someone who hates waiting, I was very pleased about this part...
Even though the restaurant isn't huge, turnover seemed good, and thanks to the table layout, the wait probably won't get too long!
Mentsuru menu and prices
The ramen dishes (6 kinds), rice bowls (2 kinds), and sides (3 kinds) were reasonably priced at ₩11,000–15,000. I ordered the motsu ramen (beef intestine ramen, ₩15,000) and the handmade chicken karaage (₩7,000)!
I was torn for a while because the tori paitan looked good too, but I went with the motsu ramen since I was craving a spicy broth haha

Open kitchen and cat phone stands for solo diners
Open kitchen! A restaurant you can trust! There was a bowl signed by Moon Sang-hoon sitting on the bar table — turns out he's been to this place too!! 🫢
The basic side dish is yuzu pickled radish! There's a cat smartphone stand for solo diners, so I took a photo with it too hahaha isn't it just too cute 🐱
How spicy is Mentsuru's motsu ramen at level 2?
The motsu ramen I ordered came out first. It seemed to arrive in less than 10 minutes after ordering!
The motsu ramen lets you choose your spice level, and I went with level 2, 'fiery.' It was about as spicy as Shin Ramyun cooked with extra chili peppers!
Maybe because it's built on a rich chicken broth base, the broth was clear yet thick and sticky — a real standout for the motsu ramen.
A hangover-cure ramen simmered spicy with beef intestine and beef short rib belly in a rich chicken broth slow-cooked for 12 hours. A perfect balance of deep umami and spicy flavor.

The amount of beef intestine and beef short rib belly packed in was almost unbelievable for ₩15,000.
No off smell at all, and it wasn't chewy either ㅠㅠ
Handmade chicken karaage, 7,000 won: how is the batter?
About 3 minutes after the ramen, the karaage arrived! It's just the right amount for two people to share.
They drizzle it with chili sauce and mayo(?). The chili sauce was totally my style... I wanted to ask for more but held back haha
Each piece was quite chunky, and above all, the batter was just the right thinness and crispiness — the texture was so satisfying... The brining seemed well done too, since it was nicely salty. I'm the type who eats fried chicken for the sauce-coated batter, so I have my own standards for batter, and this place passed …… 💖 Not much oil, and it looked like they'd trimmed the chicken skin carefully.
A killer combination. Eating karaage alone can get greasy, but a sip of the motsu ramen broth right after washes it clean away.

I'm planning to come back to Mentsuru for the tori paitan haha. The noodles were cooked just right too — not overly soft, with a nice firm bite.
You get a free drink or fried gyoza (dumplings) for writing a Naver review, so of course you should take part!! I saw a lot of blog reviews with people eating the fried gyoza, and it looked delicious haha
