Yongin Korean restaurant with green tea broth pot rice: Sotbap Hansang

Sotbap Hansang: a set-meal restaurant in Idong-eup, Yongin, with my mom

Today I'm writing up my visit to Sotbap Hansang, a Korean restaurant in Cheoin-gu, Yongin!! I ordered the borigulbi (dried marinated yellow corvina) set for two.

There are days when you just want proper Korean food, right?! I hadn't had a full Korean set meal in a while so I went with my mom haha. There are a lot of golf courses nearby too, and it's already known as a restaurant near Haesolia CC or Korea CC!

The exterior of the restaurant was so nice! The yard was landscaped too, and it looked perfect for sitting around comfortably after eating haha.

We ordered the borigulbi set for two!!

It came with borigulbi, pot rice, and a bunch of banchan, so I waited excitedly 😋

What comes with the borigulbi set for two at Sotbap Hansang

After a short wait, the borigulbi set arrived! Two large borigulbi, pot rice, and a whole table full of banchan!! There was such a variety of side dishes that it was fun to pick through them one by one.

From yeolmu kimchi and acorn jelly to namul, japchae, and sautéed mushrooms! Personally, every single banchan was delicious, so I was satisfied. Not just the main dish but the banchan too — so good for mixing and matching with rice. The bracken fern namul was especially tasty!

Salty borigulbi over pot rice spooned into green tea broth

I picked the flesh off the borigulbi and ate it with rice! The distinctive salty flavor of borigulbi went so well with the rice that I kept going back for more haha.

And with the pot rice, I scooped some rice out separately and poured green tea broth over it — this was a real treat! Mixing rice into the nutty green tea broth and topping it with a piece of borigulbi was such a good match 🤤 The rice, softened in the green tea broth, together with the salty borigulbi, just kept disappearing haha. Honestly, of all the combos I had that day, this was my favorite!

If you're having the borigulbi set, definitely try mixing your rice with green tea broth haha. And since it's pot rice, of course we poured hot water in and had sungnyung (scorched rice tea) too!! I've always loved nurungji (scorched rice), so this was amazing too ㅠ!!

Sotbap Hansang's self-bar: pumpkin porridge, seaweed soup and banchan refills

Sotbap Hansang also has a self-bar you can use during the meal!!

The self-bar had pumpkin porridge, seaweed soup, and refill banchan — it was great being able to help yourself to as much as you wanted!! Eating borigulbi and banchan and then adding pumpkin porridge and seaweed soup made the meal feel even more satisfying haha.

The unmanned café next door: americano for 1,000 won

One thing I loved after eating at Sotbap Hansang! There's an unmanned café right next door!!

The americano was only ₩1,000, so it was an easy, no-pressure cup of coffee!

These days a single cup of coffee isn't cheap, so being able to grab an affordable coffee right after the meal was a nice touch!! A lot of people crave coffee right after eating, right haha. Being able to take care of both the meal and coffee right next door was so convenient ☺️

Is Sotbap Hansang in Yongin worth it? Final thoughts

This time I had the borigulbi set for two with my mom at Sotbap Hansang!! The borigulbi and pot rice went great together, and above all, the banchan were delicious, so I left feeling great about the meal haha.

I also loved mixing rice into the nutty green tea broth and eating it with borigulbi, and I liked that the self-bar had pumpkin porridge and seaweed soup ready to go!!

After the meal, a ₩1,000 americano at the unmanned café next door haha. It was great being able to have a filling Korean meal and then enjoy coffee right after!! It was especially nice to come here with my parents, and the parking lot was spacious too,
