Giheung BBQ weekday lunch, shrimp-cut sirloin over charcoal: Dongbaek
In short
Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant is a hanok-style butcher restaurant and Korean BBQ on Eodong-ro in Giheung, Yongin. At this weekday lunch the writer picked shrimp-cut sirloin and hanwoo galbisal (beef rib meat) straight from the showcase and grilled them over charcoal, with no table-setting fee and a large parking lot behind the building. For anyone who wants to see and choose their own hanwoo at a fair price, Dongbaek Hanokjip is a solid pick.

What is Dongbaek Hanokjip, a butcher BBQ in Giheung, Yongin?
This time I'm introducing a Korean BBQ restaurant in Giheung, Yongin with a cozy hanok (traditional Korean house) style interior and a big parking lot behind the building, so you can drive there without any worry. If you're looking for a BBQ spot in Giheung, this is one to check out — Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant is a butcher-style restaurant where you can eat high-quality hanwoo (Korean beef) and pork at a fair price, with no table setting fee.
The exterior is grand and pretty in hanok style, and the inside is spacious with well-arranged sofa seating, making it plenty good for a family meal out or a group dinner. Since it's a butcher restaurant, you get to see the cut you want in the showcase and pick it yourself, which felt more trustworthy and made it taste even better.
They have everything from the hanwoo specialty cut saeu-sal (shrimp cut) to kkotdeungsim (marbled sirloin), and for pork there's samgyeopsal (pork belly), mokdeungsim (pork neck), galmaegisal (skirt meat) and more, so you wouldn't need to worry about bringing a group and everyone finding the cut they want.

The hanok exterior and the parking lot out back

This is the front and back of Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant — you can park behind it, and the hanok style gave it a warm, welcoming feel.

There's this much spacious parking space.
Lunchtime atmosphere and what's on the table
At lunchtime, about half the people were there for beef and half were there for the solo weekday lunch special.
The seating was arranged in a somewhat private way, which is exactly my style, and with a spacious, comfortable dining area plus parking on top of that, it's an easy place to visit without any burden.

There's candy, toothpicks, a phone charger, fabric deodorizer, and a dessert coffee machine so you can have a coffee on your way out.

There's also a baby chair, so it's suitable for a family meal out with kids, and disposable aprons are placed within easy reach in case you're wearing clothes you don't want oil splattered on.
Picking shrimp-cut sirloin and hanwoo galbisal from the showcase

This is a place you can trust because you get to see the beef or pork you want with your own eyes in the showcase and pick it yourself — I chose the sirloin under the shrimp cut and the hanwoo rib meat.

You can also order meats not shown in the showcase, and rice/noodle dishes are available too.
The full table setting and side dishes
This is how the table was set — the special cuts I picked myself from the showcase, shrimp-cut sirloin and beef rib meat, had great bright red marbling from the start, and the price was also easy on the wallet, making it hanwoo you can enjoy without worry.

The side dishes came out right away, neat and tidy, and they were great to eat alongside every bite of beef.

How the charcoal-grilled sirloin and beef ribs tasted
You just set the thick sirloin over the piping hot charcoal, lightly cook it, and cut it into easy-to-eat pieces.
Dipping it lightly in salt and taking a bite, the juices burst in my mouth and it melted so softly — it made me think I was glad I came.
I really ate my fill of the sirloin.

The grilled beef ribs that followed were also appealing, with a clean, not-too-strong chewy savoriness and a soft texture — you just lay them on the charcoal briefly and flip once to cook.

Eating the beef ribs, grilled golden brown over the charcoal, together with pickled onions or the neat side dishes, I kept eating without ever getting tired of it.
Grilling and eating the sirloin and beef rib meat I picked out myself from the showcase at Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant, a BBQ restaurant in Giheung, Yongin, I liked that the prices were fair since it's a butcher restaurant and that you can come eat beef even at lunchtime — it's an easy place to visit with parking available.
If you're near Giheung, Yongin and want a good-value beef butcher restaurant where you can bring a group even at lunchtime and properly enjoy hanwoo and beef over charcoal, be sure to stop by Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant!
