Isn't it true that just thinking about travel makes you happy?
I was searching for what to eat next month on a trip to Gangneung — what's good there? Oh? Sundubu (soft tofu)? 🥄
But wait, there's a place near Unseo Station? Guess I don't need to go all the way to Gangneung 😆 Bongga Gyodong Banjeom (본가교동반점)

It's on the Eungol café street, so it's perfect for a meal followed by café hopping 😆 The location is just right!

Looks like they do a lot of delivery too! Isn't the business hours sign for this Unseo-dong jjambbong spot just adorable? haha
Where is Bongga Gyodong Banjeom and how do you get there?
Bongga Gyodong Banjeom is on the Eungol café street at 50-8 Hwarangmok-ro, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon. It's within a 10-minute walk of Exit 2, Unseo Station.
What is the inside of Bongga Gyodong Banjeom like?

Good timing again — no other customers, so I could comfortably photograph the interior! The place is genuinely spacious, seems perfect for a work dinner or a family gathering! Having a restroom inside was such a plus!
So many menu items that felt like being in Gangneung! Looked like a comfortable spot for solo dining too!

When you tap a menu item, a description pops up, which I really liked~ Ah, so this is the flavor, this is the dish! It somehow made choosing easier.

The self-serve bar: onion and baek-kimchi
Bongga Gyodong Banjeom's self-serve bar has onion and baek-kimchi (white kimchi). I love a self-serve bar ~ hehehe, with onion and white kimchi too, so I scooped up plenty before the food even arrived 🤤

Another point in this Unseo Station jjambbong restaurant's favor: neat spoons and chopsticks! Big compliments on the packaging condition!
Sundubu jjambbong rice, piled with soft tofu
What I ordered was Bongga Gyodong Banjeom's sundubu jjambbong rice. They said if the rice runs out, just ask and they'll bring more!

Wow, such a generous bowl of jjambbong rice came out! So thoughtful!! ⭐️
I ladled the tofu on top and wow~ the sundubu portion itself is really, really generous!

Once you scoop through the tofu, the seafood and kimchi practically overflow off the spoon!
So much seafood~ 🦑🐙 And the spice level was more moderate than I expected — it looked really spicy but even a spice wimp like me could enjoy it 🤤 Even with all that red, since there's so much tofu on top, mixing it all together makes it taste amazing!

Dipping the soft, plump tofu into the broth and eating it — it just melts in your mouth and disappears? ◻️🥄

Since it's jjambbong rice, I happily mixed the rice right in 🍚 Loaded with mussels too, so one bite and — wow, feels like it would naturally cure a hangover if you had it with drinks the night before..🤤
Really so many mussels, so much seafood 💚
Eaten with plain white rice, the combination is incredible!

Top it with the clean, mild baek-kimchi and — oh man, pour me a drink lol
Fried mandu (4 pieces) as a side

The mandu (dumplings) were calling my name, and since there was a 4-piece option I added it on ⭐️
With soy sauce and the self-serve red pepper flakes I made a dip and dunked away 🤤 The fried mandu aren't long, they're short and plump — such a cute size! 🥟

The crispiness looks just right! So excited, so excited, so so excited

Whoa... isn't there a ton of meat filling?🥟 True to the name, 4 crispy fried mandu ~ 🥟 Perfect as a side, and I feel like ordering mandu at a Chinese restaurant is just mandatory! 🤤

You can get more rice too, so if you like sundubu jjambbong, don't hesitate to ask for a refill — you'll head home full and satisfied after a great meal.
The visuals are amazing, right? With the mandu too, that first bowl of rice was plenty for me! 😆
