I visited Eochongye 1beonji while looking for a place around Ansan’s Bandal Island to enjoy delicious sashimi and fresh seafood!

Yesterday, I visited with my husband and his coworkers. We had such a memorable time because we ate lots of delicious food, chatted together, and had fun haha.
A Bandal Island seafood restaurant with easy parking
Eochongye 1beonji has underground parking in the building, so it was convenient to visit by car. There were lots of customers when we arrived, so we had a short wait. Still, it was absolutely worth waiting for.
The first thing I noticed as soon as I entered was the huge fish tank! It was full of fresh seafood, which made me excited before the food even came out haha. I think sashimi and seafood feel a little more trustworthy when you can see them with your own eyes like this.

Banchan and shiitake wasabi
Once we sat down, a neat spread of banchan (Korean side dishes), including miyeok-guk (seaweed soup), ssamjang, and salad, was set out.

One slightly special item was the shiitake wasabi! I wrapped sashimi with it in ssam (a lettuce wrap), and it went surprisingly well together. It had a different aroma and texture from regular wasabi, making it nice with the sashimi.
Medium seasonal assorted sashimi platter

Our first order was the medium seasonal assorted sashimi platter for ₩55,000. It came with a balanced assortment of seasonal fish, including flounder, olive flounder, and mullet, so we could taste several kinds at once.
The sashimi was not sliced too thin, with just the right thickness for a good bite. Each piece was fresh and clean-tasting, and I loved being able to notice each fish’s different texture and flavor. It seemed like an especially good menu choice for a group wanting to try a variety of sashimi.
Plump 1 kg salt-grilled fresh shrimp

After enjoying the assorted sashimi, our next order was 1 kg of salt-grilled fresh shrimp!

Each shrimp was quite substantial and meaty, looking appetizing from the start. Cooked over salt, the flesh was springy and gently sweet—and above all, so fresh and delicious haha.
And after the shrimp, there was the butter-grilled shrimp heads, which you absolutely cannot just pass by! The buttery aroma really came through, while the meat inside was chewy and sweet. They were truly delicious.

If you love shrimp, make sure to eat the heads too ❤️
Finishing with whole rockfish maeuntang
Later, more people in our group joined us, so we additionally ordered 500 g of salt-grilled fresh shrimp, corn cheese, whole rockfish maeuntang (spicy fish stew), and bowls of rice.

The dish that stayed with me most was definitely the whole rockfish maeuntang! I could see why people call this place great for maeuntang. The rockfish was pleasantly chewy and tasty, and the broth was spicy yet refreshing—perfect as a finishing dish after sashimi and shrimp. With rice in that spicy broth, it made for a satisfying end to the meal.
Is it good for companions who do not eat sashimi?
Eochongye 1beonji specializes in sashimi, but the menu was really varied. Along with assorted sashimi and many individual sashimi options, there were sushi, pork cutlet, fried dishes, grilled shrimp, maeuntang, and more, so it seemed suitable for visiting with both people who love sashimi and those who do not eat it well.
The prices did not feel overly burdensome either, so it seemed nice for several people to come and order a little of this and that to share. Especially when a larger group visits, like my husband and his coworkers did, it would be great to order a variety of dishes together. The late hours also seemed ideal for a dinner appointment or gathering.
A gathering with plenty of sashimi and shrimp
Yesterday, I visited with my husband and his coworkers, and we had such a fun time filling up on delicious sashimi, shrimp, and maeuntang.

The parking was convenient, we could see the fresh seafood directly in the fish tanks, and the menu selection was broad, so I thought it was a great place for a group visit. More than anything, I liked that we could enjoy everything from sashimi to shrimp and maeuntang in one place.
It seems like a place where anyone who loves fresh sashimi and seafood could have a satisfying meal! I especially want to recommend it to people who value good value at an Ansan sashimi restaurant or are looking for somewhere to eat with a group. Next time, I want to go back and try the sushi or other dishes I missed haha.
