A comfortable bar in Ansan Jungang-dong, even when you go alone

At Yahwa Honsul Bar (야화혼술바), you can certainly have a quiet drink alone, but the atmosphere makes it easy to chat and mingle naturally with people you have never met, so it felt a little different from a typical drinking spot. Plenty of people come alone, while others visit with friends or partners, so it is not somewhere you have to go solo.

It is in the busy Jungang-dong area, so it is not hard to find. Walk straight in from Jungang Station and enter the building opposite Byeolbam, and you will spot it right away. There are lots of bars and good restaurants nearby, making it a better location for a second stop than a first. I was curious what the vibe would be like at a place called a solo-drinking bar, but it was much more relaxed than I expected once I stepped inside. The lighting is soft, and rather than being a place where everyone just drinks loudly, it feels great for talking and having fun together!

It is not the kind of place where you have to sit there awkwardly just because you came alone. The owner and staff may naturally start a conversation first, so I think it would feel less intimidating even for first-time solo-bar visitors. Ordering is easy by QR code, and there is a wide selection of drinks. They make cocktails too, which are nice when you want a drink with a little atmosphere, and it also looked like a good spot to come alone and slowly enjoy one drink you love.

I think Yahwa's biggest feature is that you can come with a friend and naturally chat with people around you, or come alone and get to know new people.

Breaking the ice with darts and games

They also have darts, which is nice because you can play a game here and there instead of drinking nonstop. Even if you come alone, doing something like this together gets a conversation going quickly, so it feels perfect for days when you want a solo drink but think drinking completely alone would be boring.

Another quietly fun thing here is death debate and board games. It can feel daunting trying to figure out what to talk about with strangers, but having these games around naturally gets people talking.

Death debate in particular is funny because it starts with a trivial topic, then everyone has different opinions and gradually gets serious lol. One review even said they started a death debate and ended up talking for almost an hour and a half, and that kind of thing seems to suit the solo-bar atmosphere perfectly.

A second-stop course where outside food is allowed

One unusual thing was that outside food is allowed! If there is a particular snack you want, you can bring it in to eat with your drinks, and I heard there are tables that actually bring outside food.

It would be a nice course to have something delicious for your first stop in Jungang-dong, then move to Yahwa for drinks as a second stop haha.

At ordinary bars, you usually sit at a table and talk only with your own group before leaving, but Yahwa definitely feels different because even solo visitors can naturally talk with other people.

It seems especially well suited to anyone who has wanted to try drinking alone but hesitated because it might feel awkward, or anyone who wants to chat and have fun with new people!
