It was September, and we threw a farewell party for a former coworker! Our first stop was Panda Dim Sum, a Chinese restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Hongdae — here's the review.
Where is Panda Dim Sum, and what are its hours and parking?
Panda Dim Sum is at 22 Donggyo-ro 38an-gil, 2nd floor, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 523m from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station. Hours are daily 12:00-21:00, with a break time from 16:00-17:00, and last order at 20:10. The kitchen closes at 15:10 for lunch and 20:10 for dinner. There's no parking at the building.

Is Panda Dim Sum good for groups, and do you need a reservation?
The interior is cozy and clean. With tables for 2 and 4, it's a comfortable space to bring friends, partners, or coworkers, and the tables have enough spacing to make conversation easy. Reservations can be made same-day, or by calling ahead for parties of 5 or more. There's a restroom inside too, which was convenient!
Panda Dim Sum menu and how to order
Panda Dim Sum's menu had a wide range of Chinese dishes — rice bowls, noodles, dim sum, Peking duck, sweet and sour pork, and more! There was also a fun variety of drinks by category: soju, beer, highball, and Chinese liquor. Everything on the menu felt perfect for a group gathering.

Half Peking duck at 39,000 won: skin and wheat pancakes
Panda Dim Sum's half Peking duck is ₩39,000. The glossy duck meat comes topped with a pretty flower garnish! It's Panda Dim Sum's special dish — good to look at and good to eat. In short: savory and tender!
The crisp duck skin was the highlight
The thin, crispy skin shattered gently in the mouth, with a subtle savory duck flavor coming through. We dipped the crispy skin in sugar! The sweetness added to the crispy, savory skin made it even more delicious.
Wrapping the duck in wheat pancakes
This is the wheat pancake! Try wrapping the duck meat, cucumber, scallion, and sauce inside it.
The chewy pancake combined with the tender duck, crunchy cucumber, and fragrant scallion made both the texture and flavor even richer. Note: the pancake separates easily if you grab and tear off the paper-like end piece — helpful when eating!
Braised pork (dongpo-yuk) rice bowl and xiaolongbao
This is the braised pork rice bowl I fell for! ₩14,000. The sweet, savory sauce soaked into the meat and rice, and the combination of tender pork, savory soft egg, and crunchy bok choy was really delicious! When you eat tender meat with vegetables that are overcooked and mushy, the texture just isn't fun. But at Panda Dim Sum, the bok choy was cooked just right, pairing perfectly with the soft braised pork!
The xiaolongbao is ₩8,000. Packed with juicy broth! The combination of thin wrapper, hot broth, and clean-tasting meat filling can't go wrong. It's addictive.
Chinese tonkotsu ramen, chicken dan dan noodles and rice mixed into the sauce
This is the Chinese tonkotsu ramen! ₩13,500. It's a Chinese-style tonkotsu ramen with a rich milky broth and a spicy chili kick! The crunchy bean sprouts, soft savory egg, and chewy noodles soaked in the rich broth kept us coming back for more. The soup was refreshing and really hit the spot.
This is the chicken dan dan noodles! ₩13,000. The savory peanut and sesame sauce, spicy kick, tender chicken, and chewy noodles came together really well. Tip: cutting the chicken into small pieces with scissors first makes it much easier to eat!
After finishing the dan dan noodles, we added rice for ₩1,000 and mixed it into the leftover sauce! Mixing the rice into the leftover sauce was hearty and a whole different delicacy. Everyone should add rice and scrape the dan dan noodle bowl clean too. It makes you very happy.
A farewell party with Chamisul soju and Tsingtao
Since it was a celebration for the person leaving, we drank properly at Panda Dim Sum too. Two bottles of Chamisul at ₩5,500 and Tsingtao at ₩8,500 — both the soju and the cold Tsingtao beer paired really well with everything we ordered!
Final verdict on Panda Dim Sum
Confirmed: a great Chinese restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Hongdae! Every dish we ordered was delicious. The cozy interior makes conversation easy, it's great for gatherings with friends, partners, or coworkers, and there are special Chinese dishes like Peking duck and braised pork rice bowl.
