Night-drive bar stop in Hongdae for slush-top draft beer: Kkoko Land

😊 It had been a while since I came to Hongdae for a night drive! 🚗🌙 Perfectly matching the mood, I had dinner at 'Kkoko Land,' a place with great outdoor bar vibes in Hongdae!

Located between Hongdae and Sangsu, Kkoko Land isn't your typical indoor bar — it's a chicken restaurant/bar centered around a second-floor outdoor space where you can enjoy that classic outdoor drinking atmosphere. It's known for its rooftop-style space, terrace, and big screens, making it a great spot for a drink on a nice-weather day.

When I first put Kkoko Land into the navigation, I was like 'wait, where am I going?' but it turns out you head up to the second floor! True to the name Kkoko Land, the entrance already has a bit of a 'land' theme haha. There were waterwheel decorations and carved wooden chickens everywhere haha. This place is really serious about chicken lol

What is the second-floor outdoor hall at Kkoko Land like?

Once we got up to the second floor of Kkoko Land, the atmosphere was way better than I expected lol. There were more seats than I thought, including group tables, and the whole space felt really open, with soft lighting glowing under the night sky — the mood was excellent. Apparently the second-floor outdoor hall and terrace are one of the signature features of this place.

Plus the idol music videos and speaker sound were so good, the mood just kept climbing! 🎶 One screen showed music videos while another had sports, so it felt less like just eating and more like being out for a fun night.

I wondered if they'd be closed on rainy days lol, but there's also indoor space, plus what looks like a retractable roof structure up top. So it's set up to still be usable even on days when the weather looks iffy.

What we ordered at Kkoko Land and what it cost

There's a QR code at the table, and scanning it with your phone brings up a detailed menu! Here's what we ordered.

One screen had a music video, and the other two had a baseball game playing! Baseball fans couldn't take their eyes off it lol ⚾

Next to us there was also an explanation about the chicken dishes. It said that since fresh chicken is cooked right when you order, it can take a bit of time, and that the meat might look somewhat reddish due to something called 'pinking.' I'd never heard that explanation before, so it was oh… pretty interesting haha.

They also gave us a welcome tea, which seemed to be an orange vodka blend — refreshing and pretty tasty. Even the snack crackers were shaped like chicken drumsticks lol. This place really is serious about chicken. 🐔

Slushy draft beer, 6,500 won

First came the slushy draft beer for ₩6,500! Wow, it was genuinely so good. The top part was completely frozen like a slushy, making the draft beer really cool and smooth! 🍺 I bragged about it so much to my boyfriend, who was driving the bike and stuck with a Pepsi Zero lol

Boneless fried chicken, 21,000 won

Then out came the boneless fried chicken for ₩21,000! Being boneless obviously made it great, and the pieces were just the right size — not too big, not too small. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and eating it with beer made me realize once again that chi-maek (chicken and beer) is truth haha

Charcoal-grilled chicken neck in sauce, 24,000 won

Right after came the charcoal-grilled sauced chicken neck for ₩24,000! Just from the look of it, it seemed super tasty. And when I tried it, it was spicy with a proper smoky charcoal flavor, and the texture was really good too! It's the kind of taste that keeps pulling you back for more — honestly the charcoal sauce version was even better than the boneless fried chicken!

They also give you tortillas with sauce, cabbage salad, and egg salad on the side, which were great to pair with the food. Especially wrapping the chicken neck in a tortilla with the salad made it much more filling than I expected! 🌯

Restrooms and smoking zone at Kkoko Land

One more thing I really appreciated — I personally won't use a restroom if it's small and dirty lol, but here the restroom was clean and had plenty of stalls, which I loved. There's also a separate smoking zone. Great for smokers to have their own space, and honestly, I'm not a fan of faint cigarette smell drifting around, but here it barely leaked out at all, which I actually liked.

Is Kkoko Land worth a late-night drive in Hongdae?

Personally, I liked the chicken concept combined with the great outdoor bar atmosphere, and the portions were more generous than expected for the price. Especially having delicious chicken dishes with cold draft beer in an outdoor space lit up at night really matched the mood of a night drive. 🌙🍺

If you're looking for an outdoor bar in Hongdae instead of the usual indoor spots, it's worth grabbing chi-maek (chicken and beer) at Kkoko Land on a nice-weather day! Next time I go, I'll definitely order the slushy draft beer again lol. And I want to eat that charcoal chicken neck again too. 🐔
