Bupyeong sushi buffet weekday lunch with lamb and mala xiangguo

I think I last went to KuuKuu at the Yeonsinnae branch a year or so ago, but I heard KuuKuu's gotten really good lately, so I made a trip out to KuuKuu Gold Bupyeong Branch.

The vibe inside and our window seat

There's a super cute sushi photo zone. KuuKuu Gold Bupyeong Branch has a clean, sleek mood overall.

I came here a few times years ago, and after a long while it's completely different now ♡ Much cozier, the flow is easier, and it's way more stylish.

We came for the weekday lunch, 27,900 won, with a 90-minute etiquette time. Shall we take a proper look around?!

Salmon jang (soy-marinated salmon)

Seasoned shrimp jang. This was so good. The sauce is amazing to begin with, and the shrimp were chewy and plump. I should've eaten more of it haha.

Why the small sushi rice portions are a good thing

Being a sushi buffet, there's a wide variety of sushi and rolls — I didn't even get all of it in photos. You'd get full just trying one of each kind of sushi 😆 But KuuKuu Gold Bupyeong is smart about it — the rice portion per piece is really small haha, so you can eat without feeling weighed down.

The storage display that opens on both sides

I'd never seen this before haha. Is that a weird thing to say? But it's honestly a great idea. Press the long button and the doors open on both sides — salads stay cool on one side, fried items stay warm on the other. And doesn't it feel really hygienic too?

Cooked dishes: sweet and sour monkfish, mala xiangguo, and patgoechae

The sweet and sour monkfish was a standout.

Mala xiangguo (spicy Sichuan stir-fry) and shrimp gambas

Patgoechae (stir-fried seafood and vegetables). Overall the cooked dishes were really well made. Everything was delicious.

There was even a ramyeon machine. But does anyone actually eat ramyeon when they come here? Yes. Me haha.

8 flavors of ice cream and ube pearl milk tea

There were as many as 8 ice cream flavors, plus soft serve too.

A wide variety of drinks too, and the ube pearl milk tea was really good.

My first plate, sushi. Sushi is always good no matter when you eat it, and the small rice portions made it even better.

Scorched rice soup and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup)

These shrimp were super fresh and delicious

Seasoned shrimp jang and octopus and, was it garlic clams? Anyway it really perked up my appetite. The octopus was so tender, I loved it. I didn't grab any soy sauce shrimp myself, but looking at a table piling it up, it must be really good. Overall the shrimp dishes were all delicious.

Wait, lamb at a KuuKuu lunch?! Haha. I had two plates of it. 👍👍👍

They were also bringing out fresh gambas so I grabbed some — as expected, excellent.

Tacos are love, and there was even pulled pork, which made it even better 👍👍

For dessert I brought back bead ice cream and regular ice cream, plus coffee and fruit

Is this really dessert time now haha? My husband said 'should we try this?' and brought it over — spicy, but it felt like it settled your stomach.

The kids' play room and the meat-and-seafood corner I missed

There's a good-sized play room, so quite a few families with young kids were there.

The meat-and-seafood corner. But I only noticed it on my way out — you can self-grill a variety of meat and seafood there. Isn't that amazing? I missed it this time, so I'll definitely have to come back haha.

KuuKuu Gold Bupyeong has gotten such a huge upgrade, hasn't it? So good. My kids kept crossing my mind so I might've overeaten a little (what?🤪), so we're all planning a family trip back together haha.
