One of the must-eat signature foods whenever you visit Jeju is grilled black pork. While looking for somewhere to eat during this Jeju trip, I heard there was a black-pork specialist certified by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, so we went. It was Jeju Samchun (제주삼춘) Hamdeok Beach Black Pork, known as a good restaurant around Hamdeok Beach.
Jeju Samchun Hamdeok Beach Black Pork: location and parking
The address is 537-1 Sinbuk-ro, Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju, South Korea, on the first floor. It was a one-minute walk toward Hallasan from the Hamdeok Olive Young intersection. You can find it easily in the back building between Seoul Restaurant and Badatgol, or by going into the alley beside Kyochon Chicken or Paris Baguette.

There was parking right in front of the restaurant, so we parked conveniently and went straight in. For free parking, use the area with the green fence behind Hamdeok Olive Young. True to its reputation as a Hamdeok Beach restaurant, it is very close to both the beach and Sono Belle Jeju, making it an easy dinner stop if you are staying nearby!
Evening atmosphere and amenities for dining with children
Hours are daily from 12:00 to 23:00, with last orders at 22:00. Naver reservations and phone inquiries are available, and groups of eight or more can reserve as well. We visited at around 6 p.m., and the restaurant was already packed with diners. I thought, yep, it really must be a popular spot..

Waiting is a must on weekends, so I recommend avoiding peak time if possible or coming early.

Inside, there were not only groups but also many families visiting with children like us. High chairs and children's tableware were thoughtfully prepared, making it a comfortable restaurant for a meal with a child. Pets are allowed too, which may be useful information for anyone traveling with a dog.
The Joka Set ordered by our family of three
The signature set menus were the Joka Set at ₩60,000 (pork neck + five-layer pork belly), the Samchun Set at ₩96,000 (pork neck + five-layer pork belly + bone-in loin), and the Harubang Set at ₩132,000 (pork neck + five-layer pork belly + bone-in loin + gabrisal + hwangjeongsal, or pork jowl).

For our family of three—two adults and one young child—we ordered the Joka Set.
Crisp cucumber salad among the side dishes
After ordering, the basic side dishes arrived. They included seasoned cucumber salad, scallion salad, aged kimchi, pickled radish slices for wraps, seaweed, and various sauces that went well with the meat.

In particular, the cucumber salad was so crisp and tangy that it was great for whetting our appetites before the meat. My husband, a serious cucumber lover, liked it so much that he went back for seconds twice.
Staff-grilled smoked black pork and extra pork neck
Jeju Samchun Hamdeok Beach Black Pork is said to be a certified seller of Jeju pork, recognized by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The restaurant explained that the pork is low-temperature aged for 300 hours, then smoked with grapevine smoking chips. It arrived in neat plating that made us feel well looked after.

The staff started by placing aged kimchi on both sides of the grill, then cut and grilled the meat perfectly for us. We were a little tired after traveling around Jeju all day, so being able to eat comfortably without grilling it ourselves was really satisfying. The smoky aroma was subtle rather than overpowering; the pork belly's skin and fatty parts were pleasantly chewy, while the pork neck had an incredible!! tender texture.

Our little daughter especially loved the pork neck, so we ordered an extra portion and grilled more.

A bite with salted pollack roe and breadcrumb sauce
The meat itself was good quality, but there were also many sauces to enjoy alongside it. When the richness started to build, making a wrap with the salted pollack roe from the side dishes cut through it nicely.

They also provided meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), Maldon salt, and shiitake wasabi.

Dipping the meat in breadcrumb sauce was unique, too. My husband liked this sauce so much that he mainly used it throughout the meal, and barely touched the ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) he would normally eat often.
If you are looking for a black pork restaurant around Hamdeok Beach or Sono Belle Jeju where you can dine comfortably with a child, keep Jeju Samchun Hamdeok Beach Black Pork in mind!

From the quality of the meat and grilling service to the child-friendly facilities, everything was clean and comfortable overall, so we left very satisfied.
