As a Superchart Red Member, I want to introduce a hidden-gem set-meal restaurant in Masan, Changwon, Gyeongnam that I completely fell for after a recent visit.
When life gets busy, don't you sometimes crave a properly set table of nutritious, comforting food that's still easy on the stomach? I found a place with clean, home-style side dishes, a heartfelt main course, and even an unexpected self-serve bar service that delighted both the eyes and the palate! It's 'Masan Ssamjangjip,' located on Haean-daero near Daetgeori in Masan.

A place full of home-cooked warmth — highly recommend this Daetgeori set-meal restaurant, Masan Ssamjangjip!
Masan Ssamjangjip's location, atmosphere, and room seating

As soon as I went up to the 2nd floor and stepped inside, the cozy, clean wood-toned interior welcomed me warmly. Right from the atmospheric wooden sign near the entrance, the place felt full of character. Besides the window seats, the store was laid out spaciously, so there was no sense of feeling cramped at all.
In particular, there was a well set-up private room space for group gatherings or family meals. It really seemed like the perfect spot for families with young children, or for reuniting with relatives or friends for a meal together after a long time.

Menu lineup and rules for children
As I sat down and looked over the menu, the set-meal options were solid enough that deciding what to order became a happy dilemma.

From elementary-school age, one menu per person is standard, and there's a separate, reasonable price for preschool-age children — a detail I really appreciated. You can also add à la carte dishes like stir-fried pork, grilled mackerel, or braised beef short ribs, so it's easy to make the meal generous depending on your group size!
The side dish spread, signature ssamjang, and chive pancake
Clean, carefully made side dishes, one after another — the kind of banchan that keeps your chopsticks constantly busy!
Not long after ordering, the side dishes started arriving on the table one by one, and the spread was so neat and generous that I couldn't help but let out little gasps of delight.
Fresh ssam (wrap) vegetables like lettuce were just the beginning — there was also nutty tofu with crown daisy, glossy glass noodle japchae, spicy mu-saengchae (radish salad), chewy stir-fried mushrooms, deeply flavored braised aged kimchi, and even stir-fried Vienna sausages that brought back nostalgic memories. The lineup was really substantial.

The signature ssamjang here in particular wasn't overly salty — it had a subtle, deep umami and nuttiness that made it incredible just spooned onto fresh ssam vegetables with rice.

On top of that, the freshly pan-fried buchujeon (chive pancake), crispy on the edges and moist inside, was so good that we finished it before the main dish even arrived.

Every single side dish felt full of the natural taste of the ingredients and care rather than seasoning, and I could really feel why this place has become known as a must-visit meal spot in Daetgeori.

The unlimited self-serve ramyeon bar and dessert corner

While eating, something caught my eye — Masan Ssamjangjip's signature free self-serve bar corner!

The clean display case was stacked full of popular packaged ramyeon like Jin Ramen (spicy/mild) and Samyang Ramen.

There was even an automatic ramyeon cooker (EZ COOK), the kind you'd usually see along the Han River — just pour the noodles and soup base into the dedicated container, press a button, and it boils it up with just the right amount of water and time. I was already stuffed from the set meal, but there was no resisting the temptation of a spicy, chewy 'Han River ramyeon'!
Next to the ramyeon bar, there was also a cute self-serve dessert corner. Crispy sweet old-school snacks, savory peanuts, and a sweet, cool fruit cocktail from canned fruit were all laid out, so dessert after the meal was fully covered too. Sipping a refreshing cup of tea to wrap things up, I felt a happiness that left nothing to envy.
Who is Masan Ssamjangjip a good fit for?

Masan Ssamjangjip was a place full of care — from the clean, carefully prepared side dishes and fresh ssam vegetables to the deeply savory signature ssamjang, and even the ramyeon and dessert self-serve bar that every guest can enjoy. Thanks to the comfortable interior and private room space, it's also a great date spot for couples, or the perfect place to take your parents or share a cozy meal with family.
