Kkachisan Station rice bowl restaurant, dinner for two: Hekbap
In short
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is a Japanese-style rice bowl chain restaurant in Gangseo, Seoul, a one-minute walk from Kkachisan Station on the 2nd floor above Lotteria. Over a 7pm dinner for two with mom, the order was the meat-loaded rice bowl, the mazesoba pork cutlet set and a side of fried chicken; the soy-based rice bowl tasted even better with wasabi piled on, and the mazesoba was spicy and nutty. Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is a clean, reliable pick for both dine-in and delivery.

September dinner-out-after-work project before my surgery. Today I went looking for a good spot near Kkachisan Station, close to home ~~ and found the Japanese-style rice bowl chain Hekbap Kkachisan Branch ~~ I used to eat lunch at Hekbap a lot near Beomgye Station and remember trying the Bupyeong Station branch too, but I had no idea there was one near Kkachisan Station, right by my house, haha

Where is Hekbap Kkachisan Branch? One minute from Kkachisan Station
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is a 1-minute walk from Kkachisan Station, on the 2nd floor above Lotteria. These days I keep going to spots right by the station lol. Feels like it's been a while since I had a rice bowl ..!!
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch
I got there around 7 and went in, and there seemed to be more delivery orders than dine-in customers. The Baemin (delivery app) order alerts kept going off nonstop ~!! at this Kkachisan spot, Hekbap Kkachisan Branch — seems like it's already famous as a delivery favorite.

Inside Hekbap Kkachisan Branch: seating and a window table for solo diners
The Hekbap Kkachisan Branch space was really clean!! There's even a window counter for eating alone, and quite a lot of 2-4 person tables. Since Kkachisan Station is more of a residential area than an office district, it seems like everyone orders delivery for dinner at home.

There was a delivery prep zone in front of the kitchen, and with orders coming in nonstop, the staff were packing food nonstop too ,, lol. It seems the reputation as a delivery favorite is already well earned. On my way out I peeked and saw everything really neatly organized. A place like this feels safe to order from.

What's on the menu at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch sells a wide range of Japanese dishes, roughly divided into rice bowls, ramen, udon, soba, katsu (pork cutlet), and curry. Rice bowl sets come with mini udon and a croquette, while ramen, udon, soba, and katsu sets add a mini pork cutlet or fried chicken.

So many menu options ,,, I'm stuck deciding again. Honestly today too, after lunch, I spent the whole afternoon agonizing over what to eat for dinner lol. But I really wanted to try Hekbap's signature dishes, so I ordered the meat-loaded rice bowl + mazesoba pork cutlet set. I wanted to split one rice dish and one noodle dish. + Couldn't resist adding a fried chicken side too lol

While the food was being prepared, I carefully read through the instructions for eating it deliciously. No harm in following directions properly.

After reading the how-to-eat guide, I started looking around lolol. I was surprised the wasabi came in a single-use packet. I love Umtree wasabi ..!! Nice to see it.
How does the meat-loaded rice bowl taste? Pile on the wasabi
The meat-loaded rice bowl looked like it was made with pork foreleg, and the soy-based sauce was sweetly delicious. It tasted even better piled high with wasabi ..!

Mazesoba pork cutlet set, kelp vinegar included
I was busy stealing bites of mom's rice bowl when the mazesoba arrived quickly too. It looked spicy and savory — drool.

Break the egg yolk and mix it all in. Think of it as spicy mixed udon-style noodles — there are days when mazesoba just hits the spot. Today was exactly that day.

I ate about half the mazesoba, then tried adding kelp vinegar. I'd heard vinegar usually brings out more flavor in a dish, but I didn't really taste any sourness.

The pork cutlet included in the set and the fried chicken side I added both came out right away. The cutlet was tasty too. If even my mom says the cutlet is good, I'd call that a solid pass.
When mom says after eating the meat rice bowl that she wants to try making it at home, that means it was good enough to make her want to attempt it — I have a feeling I'll be seeing a homemade meat rice bowl soon. (Though I probably won't be able to stomach it ,,,)
Verdict: a Kkachisan rice bowl spot you can trust for dine-in or delivery
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch: clean space, friendly staff, and tasty food, this Kkachisan favorite. It felt like a clean restaurant you can trust whether eating in or ordering delivery. I think I'll think of it whenever I'm craving a rice bowl.
