Jeju bar in Yeon-dong for grilled blue crab and roe fried rice: Jumo
In short
Jumo is a casual Korean bar in a basement on Sindaero 20-gil in Yeon-dong, Jeju City. Visited as a second stop after a pork galbi dinner, Jumo served raw shrimp sashimi for 29,000 won, grilled blue crab for 33,000 won that came with fried rice cooked in the crab shell, and the signature al-jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup with roe) for 24,000 won. Even on a full stomach the broth kept going down, so next time Jumo gets the first round, not the second.

We were on a Jeju trip, had a great first round of pork galbi with a local friend, and started wondering — where should we go for round two? After all that meat in round one, I wanted something lighter to go with drinks. That's how we found Jumo (주모), a Korean bar in Yeon-dong, Jeju. Not a franchise — a proper local Jeju bar, which is exactly why I wanted to check it out the moment I saw it online.
Where is Jumo in Yeon-dong, and what are the hours?
Jumo is a casual Korean bar in Sinjeju's Yeon-dong. The address is 46 Sindaero 20-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, South Korea, open Monday to Saturday 17:00–01:00, closed every Sunday.

You can check the menu and prices from outside, and you can already feel the hip-hop vibe before you even step in.

What the basement room at Jumo feels like
Jumo has dim lighting overall and a cozy vibe — great for drinks with friends, and just as good for stopping by in the evening on a Jeju trip for solid snacks and a drink. Other reviews I'd seen mentioned that not just the food but the atmosphere and the quality of the bar snacks were both good, and after visiting in person, I got why people say that.

The restroom is inside, and as time went on more people came in, along with a bunch of delivery riders too — seems like they get plenty of delivery orders.

There's a big screen, so it'd probably be great for watching soccer or baseball together later. The menu also leans more toward Korean-style dishes rather than typical bar food, with a good variety to choose from — it's fun just picking what to order.

There were honestly so many things I wanted to order. The basic table setting comes with chicken drumsticks and vegetables, which I love.
Raw shrimp sashimi, 29,000 won, with the heads grilled in butter
The first thing we ordered at Jumo was the raw shrimp sashimi for 29,000 won. The shrimp had that firm, springy texture still intact, which made it perfect for a light bite after all that meat. You could taste the shrimp's natural sweetness too — a perfect little pick-me-up snack with drinks.

Look how fresh that raw shrimp is — genuinely sweet, so sweet. Not small at all either, and I actually preferred dipping it in sesame oil sauce over the chojang (vinegar-chili sauce). The heads came butter-grilled — you can wrap them in gim (dried seaweed) or dip them in chojang depending on your taste. This is a dish you really must try.

Ah, raw shrimp sashimi in Jeju is truly heavenly.
Grilled blue crab, 33,000 won, with fried rice in the crab shell
Jumo's grilled crab is 33,000 won and comes with crab roe (crab shell) fried rice on the side. The moment the crab arrived, all three of us suddenly got chatty haha. Crab really only tastes right when you pick it apart with your own hands.

Picking out the crab meat bit by bit made for a great drinking snack, and the meat was packed in more than I expected — very satisfying.

So much crab meat, plus the crab roe fried rice on top — I remember thinking, this combo is just insane.
Signature al-jjamppong, 24,000 won: spicy seafood noodles with roe
And now the dish I want to recommend the most! Jumo's signature menu item, al-jjamppong (roe jjamppong noodle soup), for 24,000 won.
You really, really have to try this one.
The broth is spicy and sharp, loaded with roe, and it was such a great pairing with drinks. Even though we were already pretty full from meat in round one, the broth just kept going down.
Drink, take a spoonful of that hot broth, then a bite of roe, haha — that combo was just so good. I get it now, why so many people write reviews specifically about the al-jjamppong.

Why Jumo is worth a first round, not just a second
Since we came here as round two after meat, the biggest downside was that we couldn't try more dishes. But everything we did try was so good that I'm already looking forward to the next visit.
Beyond grilled crab and al-jjamppong, Jumo also has a variety of Korean bar snacks — yukjeon (pan-fried beef), whole grilled squid, stir-fried squid, fried chili peppers, yukhoe (beef tartare), and gamtae (seaweed) rice balls. Other reviews mentioned the yukjeon and the whole squid bibim noodles were great too, so next time I want to come here first, straight from the start, and order a bunch of dishes.
If you're in Jeju and want seafood or Korean-style bar snacks with your drinks instead of meat, I recommend Jumo! It's fine to go as round two like we did, but honestly — I'd recommend going first, so you can properly work through the menu.
