Gwangalli breakfast café instead of a convenience store: Famous Benny
In short
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is an Australian-style brunch café in an alley toward Millak Raw Fish Center in Millak-dong, Suyeong, Busan, open daily from 8am. After a walk on Gwangalli Beach, two adults took a 2nd-floor table at Famous Benny and ordered ham cheese toast, mushroom soup, an acai bowl and two iced Americanos. When you travel, even choosing breakfast can be a headache. At some tourist spots there's nowhere decent to eat in the morning, so you end up grabbing a triangle gimbap (rice triangle) or something similar from a nearby convenience store. But if I've come all the way to Gwangalli in Busan, I want to start the morning with a bit of atmosphere.
Where can you eat an early brunch in Gwangalli?
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch (페이머스 베니 광안리점) is a Gwangalli brunch café that opens at 8am every day. It's on the Millak Raw Fish Center side, so it's easy to take a stroll on Gwangalli beach first, and the prices are good, so I could order without worrying.

Gwangalli in the morning is so peaceful. Being there made me crave an Americano and brunch, but finding somewhere open early was hard. And then, ta-da!! A brunch café popped right into view. Places that open at 8am are really hard to find, so I was so happy haha. It's near Millak Raw Fish Center, so it's a nice stop after a walk along Gwangalli beach, and the good value meant I could order whatever I wanted without feeling guilty.

Walking from Gwangalli Beach to Famous Benny
From Gwangalli beach, head into the alley toward Millak Raw Fish Center and you'll see Famous Benny. I walked there while strolling along the beach. It's about 20 m on foot from the Gwangmin Police Substation and the Millak Administrative Welfare Center, and with Naver Map on I found it quickly :)
What are the interior and 2nd-floor seats like at Famous Benny Gwangalli?
A warm, clean space
The inside of Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is a bright wood tone, with a warm and tidy feel. The exterior is stylish too, and maybe because Famous Benny is well known, customers kept taking photos outside.

There are tables on the 1st floor too, but I like high places, so I ordered and settled on the 2nd floor.

This is the 2nd floor. There were tables for 2–4 people, and they're big, so I could eat brunch comfortably. I also liked that the things you might need while sitting in the café were already set out.
What two people ordered at Famous Benny
Ham cheese toast, mushroom soup, acai bowl
Famous Benny is an Australian-style brunch café, and the menu has bacon egg rolls, ham cheese toast, Egg in Hell, salads, soups and more. I've never been to Australia, but I love everything on the menu, so I had a total case of decision paralysis.

The prices are good value too, so ordering food along with an Americano didn't feel like a burden. I think we chose the right breakfast brunch.

We ordered an acai bowl, ham cheese toast, mushroom soup and 2 iced Americanos. Two adults went, we were hungry so we got one toast, and we both love soup so we tried that too.
Ham cheese toast: crisp outside, slightly melted cheese

The ham cheese toast at Famous Benny is crispy on the outside, and since it was freshly made, the cheese inside was slightly melted. It was tasty as it was, but dipping it in the sauce they served with it gave it a whole different flavor.
Mushroom soup: a gentle button mushroom breakfast

The mushroom soup at Famous Benny has a rich button mushroom aroma, and it's neither too thin nor too thick. It's not heavy in the morning and felt easy on the stomach. Having it between bites of toast was warm and lovely. We ate bread with it too ^^
Acai bowl: peanut butter makes it

Last, the acai bowl I wanted to try. It was so pretty the moment it arrived that I couldn't bring myself to eat it ^^ Is the flower edible? I wondered, and in the end I didn't eat it haha. The fresh, sweet, cold acai berry with granola and strawberries on top was a menu that looks after both health and taste. The peanut butter up top was the kicker ^^
Is Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch worth it for a travel breakfast?
Famous Benny, a great impression of Gwangalli

Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch isn't a big café, but the tables are spaced widely, so even with plenty of customers we could eat quietly. Sipping Americano between brunch bites, I thought, what would I have done if I'd come to Gwangalli and skipped brunch? Other people were there too, but we weren't disturbed and ate quietly by ourselves. The bright wood tone overall made it easy to sit back and relax. The owner was kind too, which made it even better.

Few places open as early as 8am, so for anyone who needs to sort out breakfast, this is a perfect spot to have brunch somewhere with atmosphere. If you're looking for a good brunch café in Gwangalli, I recommend Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch :)
