A quirky foodie hotspot perfect for eating on the go while strolling or hanging out on Hongdae's Red Road! I visited MANDOO BAR, the world's first fusion K-gyoza (Korean-style dumpling) specialty shop, where you can taste something you won't find anywhere else 🙌

How does QR ordering at MANDOO BAR work?

When I got to the store, ordering turned out to be really fresh and simple. :)

You scan the QR code on the banner set up on the first floor, complete your order and payment easily, and then a notification comes through so you can pick up your gyoza fresh and hot out of the fryer~

The second floor is also neatly decorated with soft lighting and an atmospheric interior, so I could sit comfortably for a bit while waiting.

It's a cooking-and-drinks spot open from 4 PM to 1 AM, so it also looks like a good place to come for a simple drink with mandoo jeongol (dumpling hot pot) or gyoza 👍

Gyoza packed to go for a walk down Hongdae's Red Road

My order was ready and I picked it up as takeout.

Fusion gyoza received as takeout

It was carefully packed in a round, sizeable disposable clear container so the toppings wouldn't spill, and they even thoughtfully included chopsticks — perfect for holding and eating while walking Hongdae's Red Road~

Mexican taco gyoza with guacamole and nacho chips: 13,000 won

MANDOO BAR's Mexican taco gyoza comes piled high with fresh cilantro, cherry tomatoes, sour cream, and their special Mexican sauce 🌮

You can choose whether to add cilantro, so if you're not a fan, just ask them to leave it out~!

Adding the smooth housemade guacamole that comes with it gives it a rich, tangy flavor all around ♥️

The nacho chips were a nice kick too. A fantastic fusion dish you can only find at MANDOO BAR, where the charm of a Mexican taco meets the texture of K-mandoo.

Okonomiyaki gyoza topped with dancing bonito flakes: 10,000 won

The moment I opened the box, the dancing bonito flakes visual on the okonomiyaki gyoza was wild.

On top of the crispy fried housemade gyoza sits a generous helping of savory teriyaki sauce, nutty mayonnaise, and bonito flakes.

I ordered it half meat, half kimchi, and the kimchi gyoza especially was an artful combination of Japanese and Korean flavors 🔥

One bite of the gyoza gives you a slight crisp on the outside, while the juices burst out from within — a flavor that practically calls for beer. Next time I'll have to try it together at the MANDOO BAR store on Hongdae's Red Road.

Gyoza packed for a stroll on Hongdae's Red Road

Holding freshly made, warm gyoza and strolling leisurely along Hongdae's Red Road doubled and doubled again the fun of sightseeing around Hongik University.
