Gwangju Sangmu 500-day anniversary set and pastry: Bueokgan Sangmu

My boyfriend and I already hit 500 days together 🤍 Time really flew, and seeing that number felt kind of surreal haha. This time we decided to spend some cozy time together over good food!!

And he surprised me with flowers and perfume for our 500 days… 💐🤍 A gift I really wasn't expecting, which made the day even better!! After the gifts, we headed to Bueokgan Sangmu Branch (부엌간 상무점) for a nice dinner :)

Where is Bueokgan Sangmu Branch? Parking and hours

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch is a Western-style restaurant at 25 Seogwangju-ro, 1st floor, Seo-gu, Gwangju, in the Sangmu district. There's a private parking lot at the back so it's easy to drive there. Hours are 11:00–22:00, with a break time from 16:00–16:30 and last order at 21:00.

We arrived in the evening and I snapped a few photos of the exterior before going in — the vibe was really nice 👍🏻👍🏻 We went in together, found a seat, and started browsing the menu slowly 👀

Why the set menu suited a 500-day anniversary dinner

The menu at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch was more varied than expected, so we spent a while deciding what to get. We both wanted pasta, and pizza sounded great too, and a salad on the side would be nice, so after looking everything over we ended up ordering the set haha.

Since it was our 500-day anniversary, I found myself being extra careful about picking the menu 😂 There was also a review event notice posted on one side of the restaurant!!

After ordering, we chatted while waiting, and the food started arriving one by one 🍽️

Pasta at Bueokgan Sangmu: how the sauce and noodles tasted

First up, the pasta! The sauce was tasty and paired really well with the noodles. Pasta is one of my favorite dishes so I always feel a little let down if it's mediocre, but this one was genuinely delicious 🤍

Then the pizza arrived 🍕 It was even better warm, and honestly tastier than I expected, so we kept switching back and forth between it and the pasta haha. (The dough was seriously so chewy and soft!!!) We split slice after slice, saying "this is so good" the whole time 🤭

The salad that even tasted of meat

We ordered a salad too 🥗 (It even had a meaty flavor and was so good that we cleaned the whole bowl lol.) Eating salad between bites of pasta and pizza was a nice touch, and overall the combination of dishes worked really well.

Pasta, pizza, and salad together!! We enjoyed all three, so I think we picked the right menu for our 500-day dinner haha. I especially loved the overall feel of the food that night!

He enjoyed it too, and we both left full and happy 🤍 While eating, we talked about trying other menu items next time, and ended up promising each other "let's come back here again!" We enjoyed it so much that we've already decided on a return visit :)

The review-event pastry at Bueokgan Sangmu

The pastry 🥐 we received from Bueokgan Sangmu Branch's review event. Getting dessert on top of the meal made it feel like we squeezed every bit out of the visit haha.

Thanks to that, our 500 days became even more memorable 💐 It's still a little surreal that we've hit 500 days already, but I hope we keep enjoying good food and small dates together like this 🤍 Good food, pretty flowers, perfume as a gift, and being together with him made this 500-day dinner even better 🥹 Next time we'll have to go back and try other menu items haha.
