Jeonju fried chicken snack with shrimp: Mannyeon Dakgangjeong
In short
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is a fried chicken snack shop in Jeonju Hanok Village, Jeonju, serving dakgangjeong with fresh-fruit sauce and shrimp. I alternated the mild large-size chicken and shrimp, and it stayed delicious without becoming greasy even when cool. Verdict: a great snack or late-night bite to take back to your accommodation.

MANNYEON DAKGANGJEONG

Finding Mannyeon Dakgangjeong from Jeondong Cathedral
Walk along Taejo-ro toward Omokdae for about five minutes from Jeondong Cathedral, and you will find the shop across from Jungang Elementary School and Ojjang. You can also just search the name or address. Park in a public parking lot; if you are only picking up briefly, the shop says you can stop in front and collect your order.

A large mild order with half chicken and half shrimp
There had been a line just a little earlier, but after walking around and returning later, there was none, so I hurried in to buy some. The reason I love this place is that you can get half shrimp as well as chicken, and there are so many flavors: mild, spicy, soy sauce, fried, or half-and-half. I ordered the large Mannyeon Dakgangjeong + shrimp in mild flavor for ₩33,000.
- Beer 1,000cc ₩8,000 / 450cc ₩5,000
- Soju ₩4,000; makgeolli ₩3,000
- Moju (Jeonju rice wine) large ₩7,000 / medium ₩5,000 / small ₩3,000
- Cola or cider large ₩3,000 / small ₩2,000
- Pickled radish ₩500

It actually tastes even better once it has cooled, so it is perfect to take home or back to your accommodation. It is Jeonju Hanok Village food you do not need to worry about getting cold.

Side dishes that go well with it
The sides include sotteok-sotteok (rice cakes and sausages on a skewer, ₩3,000), sweet potato cheese sticks (₩3,000), fried jjondeugi (chewy dried snack, ₩4,000), and cheese balls packed full of filling (₩3,000). It would be nice to add some and eat them together.

Write a receipt review and you can receive a chicken toy or one sotteok-sotteok. 👍 So cute, right? Haha. The flavor is guaranteed, so it would be nice to write a review and take home a gift.

How to take your takeout home without it going soggy
After a short wait, my order was ready! They put it neatly into a bag that is easy to carry. You need to take it away with the lid open like this. If you tie it tightly shut, steam can build up and make it soggy. The staff were kind too, so I left feeling happy with my order.

What does the mild fresh-fruit sauce taste like?
Shall we dig into Mannyeon Dakgangjeong now? It is a place I keep coming back to because it uses fresh apple and pineapple sauce. The mild flavor is one even younger elementary-school children can enjoy. Next time, I should choose spicy, soy sauce, or fried and try it half-and-half too. I am curious about those flavors,,!

They also accept group orders for group trips, sports clubs, wedding thank-you gifts, kindergartens, schools, academies, churches, and more. It really seems like the kind of group snack that would be welcomed anywhere.

A large serving of dakgangjeong and big shrimp
! O P E N ! It is a large size, so there is a huge amount, and it looks so good,, It is the kind of sight that instantly makes your mouth water, right? There are fragrant sesame seeds sprinkled over the top too.

It goes well with all kinds of drinks and alcohol too. Highballs and makgeolli are such perfect matches!

Mannyeon Dakgangjeong in Jeonju Hanok Village says it fries and sells only chicken prepared that day. They stick to making it and selling it on the same day, so I could eat with confidence.

And it is all boneless, which made it even easier to eat.

The batter and sauce clung beautifully together, giving it a chewy yet crisp texture, while the chicken inside was tender with no unpleasant smell. So delicious.

And the shrimp were simply huge! I love shrimp too, so alternating one with the chicken made it taste even better to me.

Looking at this while writing the post makes me want it again,, 🤣 Jeonju Hanok Village food seasoned with fresh-fruit sauce did not become greasy, even as I kept eating. I really enjoyed the Mannyeon Dakgangjeong + shrimp. 👍
