Yeonnam-dong outdoor-seating Italian lunch spot: Classicdang

On a gorgeous fall weekend, I went on a date in Yeonnam-dong and stopped by "Classicdang." It was such a great spot to soak up the autumn weather, so let me share my review!

Where is Classicdang, and what are its hours and parking?

Classicdang is located in Yeonnam-dong. The address is 1F, 63 Yeonhui-ro 1-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and it's open daily from 12:00 to 22:00 (last order 21:15), with a break time Monday to Friday from 16:00 to 17:00.

It's about a 10-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3, tucked in the alley behind Dongjin Market! (No parking available!!)

How long is the Saturday lunch wait at Classicdang?

Classicdang has such a wonderful outdoor atmosphere.

I visited around 1pm on a Saturday and waited about 30 minutes. They don't use Catch Table or Table-ing, so it's walk-in waiting only — good to keep in mind!

There's water set up outside for people to drink while waiting. I was wearing thick clothes and got a bit warm, so the ice water helped me wait comfortably.

Outdoor or indoor seats at Classicdang: which is better?

There are quite a lot of outdoor tables like this. Looks like there are 4 or more 4-person tables. Eating at a nice outdoor table in this autumn weather just makes your mood even better ☺️ It felt like an outdoor date for the first time in a while!!

There are indoor tables too, not just outdoor. There's 1 table for 2 and about 3 tables for 4, so there aren't that many seats indoors! Personally I think the outdoor terrace atmosphere is better, so unless it's too hot out, I'd recommend eating outside 🙂

What is on the Classicdang menu?

True to an Italian restaurant, the menu has a variety of pastas, pizzas, salads, and more. We heard lasagna is the signature dish, so the two of us ordered lasagna + house-made jambon & arugula pizza + Caesar salad.

They also have a basil pesto tomato pizza as a new menu item — I'm curious, so I'll try it next time! They also have a wide range of imported beers and wine, so if you're into that, pairing it with the food would be nice too.

How do the lasagna, jambon arugula pizza and Caesar salad taste?

The lasagna came out first.

It was piled high with sauce and cheese, so you could really taste the lasagna. Their intro says that, true to the restaurant's name, they aim for a classic flavor, and this felt exactly like a textbook lasagna. The visuals were great too!!

Next came the house-made jambon ham & arugula pizza.

Since we'd ordered the lasagna, we chose the cream-base version of the pizza, which went well with the lasagna and was also tasty and not too rich on its own! I'm usually bad with rich food, but I ate this without getting sick of it, haha.

Sitting at the outdoor table, the sunlight came in directly so photos came out great, and the atmosphere was just so good!! It was a perfect date spot, haha. Too bad the photos can't capture all of it ㅠㅠ

The street view was so pretty too, and the weather was amazing ☀️☀️

And then the Caesar salad arrived — it came out whole, so it felt extra fresh. The lasagna + pizza + salad combo was great!

Final verdict on Classicdang

Classicdang matched the autumn weather perfectly, and the outdoor seating atmosphere was so lovely! The lasagna, pizza, and salad were all delicious, and it felt like a satisfying spot to enjoy fall at a relaxed pace in Yeonnam-dong!

The restaurant's atmosphere would also be great for a group gathering, or for hanging out with friends or on a date. If you're looking for a terrace restaurant in Yeonnam-dong or a nice spot for a date, give it a try 😊
