Every time I go to Yeonnam-dong, there are so many good-looking spots tucked into the alleys that it's genuinely fun just to walk around. 😊 This time I was strolling near the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail with my kid and got a craving for pasta, so we headed to Classicdang. I'd found it while looking for good pasta spots in Yeonnam-dong, and while the food was great, the atmosphere of the place was what really stuck with me.

Corner exterior and terrace seating at Classicdang in Yeonnam-dong

The exterior really grabs your eye, right? There are terrace seats running along the corner of the building, and the big windows were wide open, so it naturally caught my attention as I walked by. With the weather getting a little cooler these days, eating outside looked appealing too — this would make a nice stop on a Gyeongui Line Forest Trail date course. 🍂

What is the atmosphere inside Classicdang like?

Stepping inside, the vibe from the exterior carries right through. Wood-tone tables and chairs, a checkered floor, and round lighting come together for a mood that's cozy and vintage rather than flashy. With the big windows left open, it also felt pleasantly open.

Seating at Classicdang with a child at the table

We visited with our kid this day, and having a kid chair made things easier than expected. Nice-looking restaurants can sometimes feel like a hassle when you're out with a child in Yeonnam-dong, but we didn't run into much trouble at all at Classicdang.

Classicdang menu: the four dishes ordered

Looking at the menu, there were more options than I expected. Beyond pasta and risotto, there was pizza and lasagna too, making it a good spread for a group to order a few things and share. That day we ordered rosé crab pasta for ₩19,000, carbonara original for ₩16,000, gorgonzola cheese pizza for ₩21,000, and classic lasagna for ₩18,000. 😋

🍝 Rosé crab pasta, 19,000 won

A plate of rosé crab pasta topped with cheese

The first thing that caught my eye was the rosé crab pasta. With a thick-looking rosé sauce topped with cheese, it looked pretty appetizing from the start. The sauce wasn't too watery and clung well to the noodles, so it's worth trying if you like rosé pasta. It was just slightly spicy, so my kid couldn't eat it.

🥓 Carbonara original, 16,000 won

The carbonara stood out for its chunky bacon and generous cheese on top. Rather than being drenched in sauce, it clung thickly to the noodles, and the salty bacon paired well with the rich cheese flavor. If you're looking for pasta in Yeonnam-dong, ordering one rosé and one carbonara to share is a solid combination. 👍

🍕 Gorgonzola cheese pizza, 21,000 won

We ordered a pizza too, to share with our kid. The gorgonzola cheese pizza wasn't loaded with toppings — it was a simple pizza centered on the cheese flavor itself. With a dough browned nicely at the edges and piled with cheese, it was easy to grab a slice between bites of pasta. 🍕

Usually when you order gorgonzola, honey comes on the side for dipping to taste, but here it came already drizzled on top of the pizza. 🍯 We came to Classicdang for the pasta reputation in Yeonnam-dong, but this small touch made the gorgonzola memorable too.

🧀 Classic lasagna, 18,000 won

Classic lasagna with melted golden cheese on top

Last was the classic lasagna, which had me curious just from the name. It came out piping hot, with cheese melted golden on top and plenty of tomato sauce underneath.

If we'd only had pasta and pizza it might have felt a bit repetitive, but adding the lasagna made the lineup much more varied. If you're visiting with a group, ordering a pasta + pizza + lasagna combo is a good way to go.

🌿 A date-night spot by the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail

Outdoor tables at Classicdang with the Yeonnam-dong alley view

What stuck with me as much as the food was this atmosphere. There are outdoor tables set up out front, and with the windows thrown wide open, you get the full feel of Yeonnam-dong's alley charm. On a nice day especially, it's well positioned for a meal after walking the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, so it'd suit anyone looking for a good spot near the trail or a date restaurant in Yeonnam-dong. 😊
