I'm the type who has to check out a new hot spot the moment I hear about it, so when I heard Burgiz — a Daejeon handmade burger place everyone's been talking about — opened a new branch in Daeheung-dong, I went straight over!

What's the vibe like at Burgiz Daeheung, near Sungsimdang in Daeheung-dong?
Maybe because it's near Sungsimdang, Burgiz Daeheung was already full of people even though it's a fairly new place, and the shop was super clean! There were also a lot of families in for lunch. If you're looking for spots near Sungsimdang, this would fit right into a Daeheung-dong food tour.
The atmosphere was completely hip, and I felt myself getting a little cooler just by being in there haha. True to its status as the new handmade burger spot in Daeheung-dong, every bit of the interior was stylish.
The hand sink and self-serve sauces inside
Inside Burgiz Daeheung there's a separate hand sink. Handmade burgers tend to be so thick that sauce gets on your hands as you eat, so being able to wash up right there was great. There were also various sauces set out separately, which was nice for mixing and matching while eating the fries.
What did I order at Burgiz Daeheung?
Burgiz Daeheung's three signature burgers are the Hangover, the Godfather, and the Mushroom Burger, and I ordered the Mushroom Burger (₩10,300) on its own. True to a handmade burger specialty shop, there were so many burger options. While I was debating between a single order and a set, I'd heard separately that Burgiz's fries — the "fries" variety specifically — were really good, so I ordered the burger alone and got the Sweet Potato Fries (₩7,300) on the side.
For reference, if you order a set, you get thin, salt-seasoned classic fries, so you can choose depending on your fry preference. There were also lots of drink options — I went with a soda, but next time I want to try the milkshake.
How does the Burgiz Mushroom Burger taste? Fried mozzarella mushroom patty
What's distinctive about the Burgiz Mushroom Burger is that the mushroom patty is fried. I personally love mushroom burgers and have tried all kinds, but this was the first time I'd seen the mushroom patty served fried.
Being a handmade burger, it looked really thick the moment I saw it.
It was loaded with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and more, and more importantly, it wasn't just a mushroom patty but a mozzarella mushroom patty — so you get cheese mixed in with every bite of mushroom, doubling the savory flavor.
How does the sweet potato fries with ice cream taste?
Burgiz's Sweet Potato Fries (₩7,300) come with vanilla ice cream piled on top of fried sweet potato. I can't skip a review of these fries! The moment I saw them, I thought they'd taste great dipped in the ice cream.
Sure enough, the sweet potato fries were sweet and paired really well with the ice cream. On top of that, the outside was crispy with a flavor like candied sweet potato (maltang), so if you like maltang, this will be totally your taste!
Who would I recommend Burgiz Daeheung to?
I'd recommend Burgiz Daeheung to anyone looking for a thick, distinctive handmade burger in Daejeon, or a hip date spot in Daeheung-dong. What struck me on this visit was how, as a new hot spot, they've packed in the details — from the interior to the menu lineup.
The combination of mozzarella cheese in the Mushroom Burger and the Sweet Potato Fries was more satisfying than I expected ><. If you're on the fence about trying a different kind of burger or looking for a great burger spot, I'd recommend giving Burgiz Daeheung a visit!
