Kid-friendly Daejeon burger restaurant, sauce on the side: Burgiz

In short

Burgiz Daeheung is a handmade burger restaurant in Daeheung-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon, a short walk from the Sungsimdang bakery. The family ordered the Godfather, the Hangover and a bacon cheeseburger with cheese fries and a milkshake, and because the bacon cheeseburger sauce is on the spicy side, the staff served that sauce in a separate dish once they heard the kids would be eating it. Burgiz Daeheung is an easy stop to pair with a Jung-ang-ro family outing or a Sungsimdang bread tour.

Last weekend our whole family went out to Jung-ang-ro for the first time in a while. We heard there was a new handmade burger place near Sungsimdang, so we figured we'd grab some bread and a good burger at the same time. It's close enough to Sungsimdang that it's easy to stop by together on a bakery tour. This time we visited Burgiz Daeheung! 🍔

Burgiz Daeheung is a burger restaurant on Daeheung-ro 139beon-gil in Jung-gu, Daejeon, an easy walk from Sungsimdang. So many people love handmade burgers these days, right? I love burgers too, so whenever a new burger place opens I get curious and end up checking it out.

Spacious, clean dining hall at Burgiz Daeheung

The store is pretty spacious and has a clean, hip overall feel. White walls and wood-toned tables and chairs come together for a warm feeling, and the details scattered around felt subtly stylish.

Sunlight pours in through a huge window especially, and with the green trees visible outside, the space felt even more relaxed and pretty.

It has a bit of an American burger joint feel, hip but not too cold — comfortable instead. A space that photographs pretty well too.

What to order at Burgiz Daeheung

Looking at the Burgiz Daeheung menu, there were quite a variety of burgers. Everyone in my family picked what they wanted.

The Burgiz signature burger: the Godfather

First up, the Godfather! It comes with red onion and dill pickle, and a whopping two slices of cheese. The cheese makes it rich and flavorful, but the red onion and dill pickle seem to keep the overall taste clean.

Since it's Burgiz's signature menu item, first-time visitors should probably give it a try.

My top pick: the Hangover burger

And the one I picked was the Hangover! I really love hash browns. So the moment I saw crispy hash brown + soft-boiled egg on the menu, I knew it was mine. Haha.

One bite in, you get the crispy texture of the hash brown first, followed by the softness of the soft-boiled egg — a great combo. Add in the slightly spicy sauce and it's not greasy at all, the kind of taste that keeps you reaching for more! If you love hash browns, this is exactly your thing. Signature menu confirmed!

Bacon cheeseburger for the kids, with the spicy sauce on the side

The kids ordered the bacon cheeseburger. Since the sauce was a bit spicy, I mentioned the kids would be eating it, and staff packed the sauce separately for us. That kind of thoughtfulness is so nice.

Even without the sauce, the kids tried it first and really enjoyed it. Meat patty, crispy bacon, and cheese too! That combo is just — no words needed, simply delicious. Watching the kids bury their faces in their burgers made this mom secretly proud, haha.

Cheese fries and a milkshake: set drinks come with free refills

You can't skip the sides when eating burgers. We also ordered cheese fries. Eating one burger each and sharing the fries was perfect for a family.

And for a drink, milkshake! One sip of milkshake and you're just happy!

By the way, if you order a set, fries and a drink come included, so it might be worth checking out the set options rather than just getting a burger on its own. Drinks are free refills, haha.

Would a beer go with these burgers?

Looking at the vibe of Burgiz Daeheung, I thought it would be good not just for family meals but also for coming with friends for a burger and a beer. 🍺 Meal with family or friends during the day, then a good handmade burger with a cold beer in the evening — sounds like a great combo just thinking about it, haha.

Pairing Burgiz Daeheung with Sungsimdang on a Daejeon day out

What I liked most was the location — Burgiz Daeheung is close to Sungsimdang. If you're visiting Daejeon, you could stop by Sungsimdang for good bread and then grab a handmade burger nearby too — a nice bread-tour-plus-food-tour combo. Especially if you're planning a family outing around Jung-ang-ro, it's a great stop to grab burgers with the kids and look around the area.

The clean, spacious store had a nice hip vibe, and above all, the variety of burgers made it easy for the family to each pick what they liked. If you're looking for a new place to eat in Daejeon, especially near Sungsimdang, go go go to Burgiz Daeheung! 💕
