How to walk to Burgiz Daeheung from Sungsimdang's main store

I had plans with a friend near Daeheung-dong and stopped by Burgiz, famous for its Daejeon burgers. It's only about a 2-3 minute walk from Sungsimdang's main store toward Daeheung-dong Cathedral, so it's a great spot to pair with a visit there.

Even from a distance, the white exterior and green Burgiz sign caught my eye right away.

Inside Burgiz Daeheung: seating and atmosphere

The inside of Burgiz Daeheung uses the brand's main green color paired with a clean white tone, giving off a bright, tidy atmosphere.

White tones, wood flooring, and green plants as an accent — it really showed off Burgiz's own atmosphere and character.

Burgiz Daeheung's menu is full of everything from basic burgers to ones loaded with various toppings, so it was nice being able to pick according to taste. The signature menu items are the Hangover, Godfather, and Mushroom burgers.

Ordering a set gets you original fries plus a drink included. You can order comfortably right at the table using the QR code. We ordered the Hangover set, a Mushroom burger on its own, and chili fries.

Hangover vs Mushroom burger: which tastes better?

Our order arrived. For drinks, they give you a cup filled with ice so you can self-serve as much as you'd like. It was nice that they had a good variety of zero-sugar drinks too.

Hangover burger with a thick patty and hash brown

The Hangover had a thick patty, crispy hash brown, bacon, egg, and barbecue sauce all coming together — really rich, and every bite gave a different mix of textures and flavors, so good. The barbecue sauce is a little spicy, which meant that even with all those hearty ingredients, it never felt greasy and I could enjoy it all the way through.

I think people who especially love hash browns would enjoy this one even more.

Mushroom

The Mushroom burger wasn't just plain mushroom — it was crispy fried mushroom. The cheese inside was really soft and salty, and it paired well with the beef patty too. After the savory, rich patty flavor came the mushroom's distinct aroma and crunchy texture, making the overall taste fairly clean.

Personally I like burgers loaded with lots of ingredients, so the Hangover was a bit more to my taste.

Thick original fries served as part of the set

Here's the original fries that came with the set. I loved the thick look of them from the start — crispy outside, fluffy inside, so good. Fries are truly love 😍. If you run out of sauce, there's sriracha, mustard, ketchup, and hot sauce set up at the front of the store so you can easily grab more.

The chili fries have crispy fries topped with a rich, spicy chili sauce, with a soft ranch sauce added in the middle.

The chili's spicy, rich flavor together with the ranch's mild taste worked well mixed together — it was delicious. It gave a totally different feel from the original fries.

The owner and staff were also very kind, which made for a pleasant meal.

Is Burgiz Daeheung worth a visit?

Burgiz Daeheung, a well-known burger spot in Daejeon, has a wide variety of burgers so there's fun in picking your own, and overall the ingredient flavors come through clearly with a burger that stays true to itself — good enough for a solid meal. Plus, it's close to Sungsimdang's main store, so it's great to visit before or after shopping, and it's also a comfortable place to eat alone.

Next time I plan to try the Godfather, the other signature menu item I didn't get to try this time.
