Seoulsup Italian brunch spot, seashell QR ordering: Billadeubeulleu

In short

Billadeubeulleu Seongsu (빌라드블루 성수) is an Italian brunch restaurant on a residential side street in Seoulsup, a 5-minute walk from Seoulsup Station in Seongdong, Seoul. On an October lunch visit the terrace seats were already reserved, so the writer sat indoors, ordered through the QR code on a seashell menu, and had the aligot cheese lasagna (₩22,000), abalone ink risotto (₩25,000) and baguette (₩5,000). With cheese added to the lasagna right at the table and an abalone ink risotto with no fishy taste, Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a strong recommendation for a date or group brunch.

I went to Billadeubeulleu (빌라드블루), a Seongsu spot near Seoulsup that I really recommend for a brunch date, haha. Billadeubeulleu Seongsu sits on a side street among the houses around Seoulsup, and the atmosphere is lovely and the food is delicious, so it's great for a group get-together or a date~~

Where is Billadeubeulleu Seongsu and what is the atmosphere like?

Billadeubeulleu: bright, with an Italian feel

Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a brunch date spot a 5-minute walk from Seoulsup Station. I come to Seoulsup a lot, so it's a real shame I only just found out a place like this exists~ Maybe because the weather has turned cool, the outdoor seating they have set up felt especially appealing, haha.

October lunch: the terrace was fully booked, so we sat indoors

I visited Billadeubeulleu Seongsu at lunchtime in October, but the outdoor terrace seats were already reserved, so we ate indoors. The weather was pleasantly warm with a cool breeze, and brunch outside in the sunshine looked so good, but those seats were already taken...! So we ate inside.

Indoor seating and interior of Billadeubeulleu Seongsu

I could have been a little disappointed, but once inside Billadeubeulleu, the neatly arranged seats, distinctive tables and the interior were so nice that it felt like a great date spot, haha. And maybe because it's a famous brunch place around Seoulsup, there were definitely a lot of women customers, and it looked good for a 청모 (cheongmo, a get-together to hand out wedding invitations) too.

How do you order at Billadeubeulleu Seongsu? The seashell QR menu

At Billadeubeulleu Seongsu you order with the QR code on the seashell on your table. I wondered what the shell was doing there at first, and then it turned out to hold the QR code. A seashell menu!! I loved how unique that is, haha.

What we ordered and the prices

  • Aligot cheese lasagna ₩22,000
  • Abalone ink risotto ₩25,000
  • Baguette ₩5,000

The food

Table spread of the lasagna, risotto and baguette

When the food arrived, it looked so appetizing and the plating was pretty. At Billadeubeulleu Seongsu there's a lot to watch while the staff prepare the dishes, and they explain everything well, which I really liked, haha.

Aligot cheese lasagna: cheese stretched onto the dish at your table

At Billadeubeulleu, the aligot cheese lasagna (₩22,000) comes out first, and then a staff member stretches cheese from a hot pot onto it. The lasagna arrives on its own and just as you think, huh?! Where's the cheese?, a staff member comes over.

They prepare the cheese stretching out of a hot pot like this ㅠㅠㅠ Aren't you already excited to taste it?! This kind of performance is a big plus, so I really recommend it for a date!

Once all the cheese is on, you can dig in, but that dish...! It's really hot, so don't touch it and move it carefully!

Aligot cheese lasagna in its hot dish, fully topped with cheese

When I cut in and tried the lasagna, the aligot cheese, a blend of mashed potato and mozzarella, was thick and rich in the best way. The lasagna itself was delicious too, with a nicely balanced ragù (meat sauce) with a gentle tang and sweetness, the meat and the pasta sheets. If you visit Billadeubeulleu, I recommend trying it, haha.

Baguette sprinkled with olive oil and pepper

The baguette is great for dipping in sauce

The Billadeubeulleu baguette (₩5,000) came lightly sprinkled with olive oil and pepper. The crispy texture was great, and it was really good for dipping in the risotto or lasagna sauce.

Abalone ink risotto at Billadeubeulleu Seongsu

Is the abalone ink risotto fishy?

Billadeubeulleu's abalone ink risotto (₩25,000) has no fishy taste at all, and the abalone is cooked tender. This risotto was also very good quality. The risotto stir-fried in squid ink and the abalone were both cooked really softly, and with a tangy sauce on top, the look and the taste were both so appealing, haha.

Abalone topped with zest on the ink risotto

As you can see from the zest on top of the abalone, there's no fishy taste at all, and I loved the abalone's clean flavor and tender texture~

The risotto is thick too, and maybe because it was cooked for a long time, it had a soft, melting texture rather than distinct firm grains of rice, which I liked. The ink isn't overpowering, but it adds a subtle savory depth that's really nice, haha.

A spoonful of ink risotto with abalone on top

Putting a bit of abalone on a spoonful like this spreads a great flavor through your mouth, and the savoriness of the risotto and the abalone went together really well. The tang at the finish was clean and just right, so it was perfect for a light brunch, haha.

Would I go back to Billadeubeulleu Seongsu?

An honest review and whether I'd return

For a Seoulsup brunch date, I think Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a great place to visit at this time of year in autumn, so I really recommend it, haha. Before it gets colder, enjoying a quality, tasty brunch outdoors in the sunshine is so appealing here, and it's great for a date or a group. That was Billadeubeulleu, a Seongsu restaurant I truly recommend.
