Soottori Hongdae Hapjeong is an izakaya bar in Mapo, Seoul, serving yakitori and drinks. I enjoyed a seven-skewer random assortment served fresh off the grill, plus Korean beef yuk sashimi, Sapporo draft beer in a frosted glass, and Cheongha. A comfortable pick for a relaxed solo drink.

Mapo shabu-shabu restaurant with aromatic mala broth: Nahonsha

Nahonsha is a solo shabu-shabu restaurant near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. I enjoyed fresh meat, quality vegetables, fragrant mala broth, and finished with kalguksu noodles. Verdict: Nahonsha is a place I would revisit when I crave mala shabu-shabu.
