Walk-in Friday night gopchang for four in Mokdong, Seoul: Omokgyo
In short
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is a gopchang (grilled beef intestine) restaurant near Omokgyo Station in Yangcheon, Seoul, known for its traditional handmade garlic gopchang made with Seosan six-clove garlic. Four of us walked in at 8pm on a Friday without a reservation, waited about 30 minutes, then shared the 119,000-won family set of 600g mixed gopchang, 150g thin-sliced beef brisket, a gopchang hot pot and fried rice. The daechang (large intestine) and the whole-garlic gopchang were the highlights, and booking ahead on Naver or Catch Table is essential.

Where Omokgyo Gopchang is, and how long the Friday night wait ran
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station. I went around 8pm on a Friday without a reservation and couldn't get seated right away — had to wait about 30 minutes before getting in ㅠㅠ

A friend gathering came up after a while, so I picked Omokgyo — I love this area because it has so many hidden gems, and since everyone in the group is a total gopchang lover, we headed to Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch :-) The inside was packed to the brim with customers, so I'd really recommend booking ahead through Naver or Catch Table!
🚇 I went by subway — it's about a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station. 🚘 If you're driving, there's no parking at the restaurant itself, but you can use the Mokdong Public Parking Lot or the E-Mart Mokdong parking lot, both within a 7-minute walk.
What the dining room feels like
The inside of Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is moderately dim and has a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere overall. It looked like the perfect spot for drinks and gopchang with friends 🍻

After waiting about 30 minutes, getting inside felt even more satisfying haha ㅎ_ㅎ
The menu and what comes in the 119,000-won family set
Omokgyo Gopchang has everything from single-cut menu items like hwangso gopchang, daechang (large intestine), makchang (rectum), and yeomtong (heart), to a mixed gopchang plate where you can try several cuts at once. Since there were four of us, I ordered the family set for 3-4 people at 119,000 won ‼️ (600g mixed gopchang + 150g beef short rib + gopchang hot pot + Omokgyo fried rice)

The set menus are well organized by group size, which made choosing easy.
Side dishes: sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) and 30-year-recipe scallion kimchi
The basic side dishes at Omokgyo Gopchang are sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), pa kimchi (scallion kimchi), pickled onions, and corn salad. After ordering, the banchan came out one by one — a spicy, rich-looking sundubu jjigae and pa kimchi made from a 30-year family recipe passed down from the owner's mother :D

The sundubu jjigae especially had a whole block of soft tofu in it, and it was spicy enough to pair really well with the gopchang.

Two types of dipping sauce — sesame oil sauce and a spicy sauce!
600g of mixed gopchang: which cuts were best
Finally, the mixed gopchang arrived.. ✨ The staff even did a little fire show at the start, which was fun to watch. Yeomtong (heart) gets chewy if grilled too long, so I'd recommend eating it first.

Ordering the mixed plate meant a variety of cuts came out evenly, so it was great for picking and choosing by taste — for me, daechang (large intestine) was the best!!🔥 It was really plump, crisped up golden on the outside, and packed with savory flavor on the inside — anyone who loves daechang will especially be satisfied.

The signature whole-garlic gopchang
The mixed plate also let us try Omokgyo Gopchang's own signature whole-garlic gopchang — whole garlic cloves are actually stuffed inside the intestine, so it wasn't greasy at all, and as a garlic lover I really enjoyed it as always.

Finishing with bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles) and gopchang hot pot
Once we finished off the bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles) and gopchang hot pot included in the family set, the meal was a filling wrap-up 🍽️ The bibim guksu was tangy and spicy, which paired nicely with the savory gopchang, and the gopchang hot pot had a rich, spicy broth loaded with gopchang and other ingredients — great as a drinking snack too.

There's even a photo booth machine near the counter, so you can take pictures and print them out right away 📸 It was a rare get-together with friends, so it was nice to have photos to remember it by haha
Verdict: is Omokgyo Gopchang worth it for a group dinner in Mokdong?
No matter when you go, this famous restaurant, Omokgyo Gopchang, always seems to be packed with people :D

You can try their signature traditional handmade whole-garlic gopchang here, and the set menus make it easy to sample a variety of dishes at once — so if you're looking for a good gopchang restaurant in Omokgyo, or a spot for a group gathering with friends or coworkers, I'd recommend this place! Just make sure to book ahead before you go 💌
