Suji gukbap with ugeoji bone haejangguk set: Yeonnal Gyeongseong

I'm Koi's mom, raising an elementary school son :D This summer was so hot that I was completely wiped out by the time I got off work. Even in summer you don't always crave cold, refreshing things haha — some days you just want a warm, hearty broth to fill you up. But standing over a gas stove cooking on those sweaty summer days when you're sweating just standing still? Not easy at all ㅠ

So my husband, son, and I stopped by Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch, a Suji-gu Office Station restaurant that's both tasty and nutritious, on our way home from work :)

Where is Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk and when is it open?

It's a 2-minute walk from Suji-gu Office Station, and it sits right inside the area with the Yongin Lifelong Learning Center, Suji Library, and the elementary-middle-high school academy district, so accessibility is really great!

The inside is clean and comfortable too~ It's great as a family dining spot, but I also saw a lot of solo diners.

Sesame sundaeguk set: a bowl even a 10-year-old finished

They say the brand started in 2017 among the old, long-running shops in the Yongin Central Market sundae alley, and grew by taking in feedback from picky customers~ Maybe that's why the flavor was so clean and impressive, living up to reviews like "it's the best" and "no gamey smell at all"!

What sets Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk apart from other sundaeguk places is that it's a "sesame" sundaeguk, so it has this nutty flavor to it?! With the rice mixed right into the nutty, rich broth along with tender meat, my 10-year-old son finished a whole bowl in no time haha! It really is a Korean soul food started young haha.

Ugeoji bone haejangguk set: meaty pork bones in a spicy broth

My husband and I can't do without something spicy, so we debated between the spicy sundaeguk and the ugeoji bone haejangguk (napa cabbage bone soup), and ordered the ugeoji bone haejangguk set so we could try a bit of everything!

Can you see how meaty the bone haejangguk is?? I gave my 10-year-old a piece of the haejangguk meat too, and he ate it up really well?? When your kid eats well, that says it all haha.

And when you order a set! You get to taste a little sliced boiled pork and sundae as a bonus, which was so nice~~

The most important thing when eating gukbap is the kimchi! Pairing it with a bite of crunchy seokbakji (radish kimchi) cuts through the rich flavor of the sundaeguk perfectly, keeping it clean — solid! We refilled it several times from the self-serve bar haha.

Student sundaeguk for 9,000 won and a kids' gukbap set for 5,000 won

Hearty and affordable for students too!!

Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch started a student sundaeguk deal for just 9,000 won starting in July! It's a nice, budget-friendly event for students who are tired and worn out from studying, offering both good taste and value at lunch or dinner, any time. They said it's available for anyone up through high school seniors, weekends and holidays included!

I haven't tried it myself yet, but they also have a 5,000-won kids' gukbap set ready — perfect for parents where ordering two sundaeguk is too much and ordering just one feels a little skimpy :)

It's also certified as a Food Safety-Assured Business by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and was selected as an Outstanding Franchise in 2025, so as a mom, this place passes the test for feeding my kids haha.
