When weekends roll around, figuring out where to take the whole family to eat so everyone's happy is just part of being a mom like me, haha. We eat out every weekend, but there are only a handful of places all four of us have begged to go back to more than twice. Somehow, one place has cleared that tough bar a whopping eight times — Myeonsikdang, which has become a go-to ramen spot near Sujigucheong Station. My noodle-obsessed kids look forward to ramen day at Sujigucheong more than almost anything else.

Weekend wait time and how to find Myeonsikdang Suji from Exit 2

We arrived around 1:30pm on a weekend, and the place was already packed with customers — it's that popular — so we had to take a number. We quickly wrote our name on the waitlist paper by the door and stood around for about 10 minutes picking out what to order with the kids. There's usually a bit of a wait during peak weekend hours, but turnover is fast, so tables open up quicker than you'd expect.

Coming out of Exit 2 of Sujigucheong Station on the Sinbundang Line, it's just a one-minute walk — right next to Mom's Touch — so it's easy to find even on your first visit.

Once you step inside, the space feels surprisingly cozy given the bustle outside, and you can tell care has gone into every corner — it's reassuring.

With four of us, we ordered four different dishes to sample a bit of everything.

Tonkotsu ramen with extra noodles: how was the broth?

The first thing to arrive at our table was the tonkotsu ramen, and the rich, deeply simmered pork bone broth immediately filled the air with a savory aroma that got everyone's mouths watering.

Since my husband and second kid are big eaters who like to share, we added extra noodles, and the bowl came filled right up to the brim — hearty just to look at.

No greasy heaviness floating on top — just a deep, rich bone broth paired with chewy fresh noodles that fully lives up to its reputation as a top ramen spot near Sujigucheong Station.

Crunchy bean sprouts, char-grilled meat, and a well-seasoned soft-boiled egg — the three elements come together perfectly.

Mozza cheese katsu, the dish the kids went for first

Our two daughters' eyes lit up over the mozza cheese katsu — crispy on the outside and packed edge to edge with soft, milky cheese inside. When I cut off a piece with scissors and lifted it, the white cheese stretched without breaking, and the kids clapped with excitement.

Fried dishes can turn heavy halfway through if the oil isn't drained well, but this one was so well-drained that even the last bite tasted purely savory.

Sanuki eomuk udon (fish cake udon) for a broth-loving kid

My second kid always wants broth, hot day or cold, so we ordered the sanuki eomuk udon (fish cake udon), and the fundamentals here are just as solid.

It even comes with a skewered fish cake, which makes it extra hearty.

The plump, chewy udon noodles stayed springy all the way to the last bite, and the fish cakes added plenty of umami to the refreshing broth. It wasn't heavily seasoned — more the classic, stomach-soothing style — so all four of us finished the pot without leaving a drop.

Mild ebi curry rice: can young kids eat it?

I picked the ebi curry rice (shrimp curry rice) to fill up on rice, and I went with the mild version so the kids could dig in too. A rich, thick curry sauce came topped with a palm-sized fried shrimp that looked delicious.

Mixing the curry gently into the rice and topping it with a crispy bite of shrimp made every spoonful irresistible — my spoon never stopped moving, haha. There's zero spiciness at all, making it perfect for feeding little kids.
