Today, I’m introducing Gil151 Hanok Cafe (길151 한옥카페), a hanok café near Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon, Gangwon!! If you love cafés with a view and surrounded by nature, you absolutely have to visit! It’s around an hour from Seoul.
🚗 Nearby attractions and golf courses are close too! Vivaldi Park, Ski World, and Ocean World are about 15 minutes away by car; the Palbongsan trailhead and Hongcheon River Palbong Riverside are about 25 minutes away; and Daemyung Vivaldi CC is about 12 minutes away. It’s a great place to stop by leisurely after sightseeing, leisure activities, or golf!
What is the parking like?

Since it’s difficult to get here by public transport, parking is important. The approach is along country roads, but if you drive carefully, there’s a parking lot of about 300 pyeong waiting for you! There’s also a parking attendant, so you can park comfortably!

Enjoy the fresh nature along the way, and drive safely!! The road to the café is a little narrow, so it’s best to take care while driving. Especially if it’s your first visit, I recommend driving slowly and safely!
The hanok and wide garden atmosphere

This is the café exterior you see first! There are seats inside too, and this is where you order. The exterior had such a proper hanok feel—it was so lovely. The calm yet tidy atmosphere was really beautiful. The distinctive charm of the hanok blended so well with the natural scenery, which made it even better. It was such a pretty space for photos that I loved every direction I looked. I fell for the atmosphere before I had even entered the café!

Across from it is a huge garden, with several pavilion-like spaces where you can enjoy the cool breeze!

At a glance, it feels almost like a Joseon-era historical site...? Such a gorgeous place!! One side of the café also has spaces styled like pavilions, so the atmosphere was really nice. A gentle breeze was blowing, and just sitting there made me feel relaxed inside too. It was perfect for taking a leisurely break while looking out at nature, so I stayed for quite a while.
Grain Warehouse, affogato, and pain au chocolat

Gil151 Cafe’s signature menu!! Grain Warehouse looked the most delicious to us, so we ordered it, along with an affogato called Around When Camellias Bloom!

And one pain au chocolat too! The pain au chocolat was seriously delicious! 🥐🍫 It was crisp outside, moist inside, and had such a rich chocolate flavor. It paired even better with the affogato!
Affogato enjoyed while looking at nature!! Every time I poured in the coffee, it blended with the ice cream so beautifully! ☕️🍨 The flavor became richer with each pour, and I really enjoyed it.

Grain Warehouse is a grain latte! There’s also the fun little experience of grinding sesame seeds to sprinkle on top! The grain latte was nutty and smooth, so delicious! It was gently sweet, with the nutty grain flavor coming through clearly, so I kept drinking it without any heaviness 😊

I also loved that they kindly explained how to enjoy it! It seems each signature menu item has its own way to eat it!

A relaxing spot for families, dates, and gatherings
There are lots of pavilion-like spots, so I saw families of all ages, couples on dates, groups, and all kinds of visitors! It was so nice to relax while looking at the natural scenery. With the comforting hanok atmosphere added in, I lost track of time and came away feeling refreshed. I recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a café quietly and at an unhurried pace!
It’s such a fun hanok café where children can run around too—it almost feels like being in a hanok village in Gyeongju or Jeonju! Enjoy a nearby day trip before it gets even more popular!!
