Gangnam bakery café with spacious seats: Bakerist Brown

In short

Bakerist Brown is a large bakery café near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul. I visited at 4 PM on a Monday for salt cream coffee and an eight-piece Gangnam Sand set, with plenty of seating and lots of baked goods to browse. Verdict: a handy place to remember for spacious seating and a wide bakery selection.

I was out in Gangnam for an appointment and stopped by Bakerist Brown, which I’d wanted to visit for ages. It came up often whenever I searched for bakeries around Gangnam Station, but seeing it in person, the scale was much bigger than I expected.

This large bakery café spans from basement level 1 through the third floor, so it was quietly nice to find a café this spacious right in the middle of Gangnam.

Seating at 4 PM on a Monday

I visited around 4 PM on a Monday, and perhaps because the space itself is so large, there were still quite a few open seats.

I liked having plenty of options for where to sit. It seemed nice whether you came alone for coffee or visited with a group of friends.

Bakery café space near Gangnam Station

In Gangnam, it can be awkward when you go looking for a café and there are no seats, but this was a bakery near Gangnam Station where that concern felt comparatively small. And of course, Bakerist Brown was fun just for looking at all the bread.

There are seriously so many kinds! As I looked over the bakery display one by one, I kept wanting this and wondering about that, so I spent ages deciding.

From pastries to desserts, there were lots of options, so I think bread lovers would have plenty of fun just browsing. If you prefer a bakery around Gangnam Station with a broad selection, you might like it here.

Bakerist Brown order

My First Salt Cream Coffee

That day, I chose a salt cream coffee and the newly released eight-piece Gangnam Sand set. I’d heard the name salt cream coffee many times, but this was my first time trying one.

Salt cream coffee ordered for the first time
Salt cream coffee and Gangnam Sand set

I generally like cream coffee, so I ordered it with high expectations. From the first sip, the combination worked better than I expected, and I liked it. The cream on top was soft and fluffy, with a subtle salty note true to its name.

The saltiness didn’t stand out too strongly; it simply added a nice point between the coffee’s rich flavors, so it wasn’t overwhelming.

Coffee and cream combination

Especially as the smooth cream, slight saltiness, and coffee’s pleasantly bitter flavor came together, it felt less cloying than a cream coffee that is only sweet.

It seems like a menu item worth trying for people who like sweet coffee but find overly sweet drinks a little much. The thing I picked to have with my coffee was the Gangnam Sand set!

What’s in the Eight-Piece Gangnam Sand Set

The set came with eight pieces and cost ₩19,000. It was neatly put together as a set, so it would be nice to buy for myself, but it also seemed like a good option when looking for a simple dessert gift in Gangnam.

There are so many sand desserts named after neighborhoods these days that I was curious, and Bakerist Brown had newly introduced its own Gangnam Sand.

Each one was easy to take out and eat individually, making it a simple treat to enjoy with coffee. Since there were so many bakery items, next time I’d like to pick a few other breads from the display as well as the Gangnam Sand.

Coffee and Bread in a Spacious Setting

Personally, what I liked most about Bakerist Brown was being able to take care of “spacious seating + a wide bakery selection + coffee” all in one place.

Spacious bakery café seating area

The area around Gangnam Station is crowded, and cafés tend to be busy too, so choosing a place to meet can be more of a dilemma than you’d think. Here, the space is large and seating is available on each floor, so even with a fair number of people around, it felt less cramped.

Café seating available on each floor

When I went at 4 PM on Monday, there were plenty of seats, so I could settle into the one I wanted and enjoy coffee at my leisure. The restrooms were kept clean too, which made even those details comfortable.

With a large café where you might stay a while, I tend to care about the restrooms and the overall level of upkeep too, and it was pleasant to use.

Clean, well-maintained café space

If you’re looking for a bakery around Gangnam Station with many kinds of bread, or a spacious bakery café near Sinnonhyeon Station, I think Bakerist Brown is a solid choice. It’s especially a place worth remembering when meeting several people or when you don’t want to wander around Gangnam looking for café seats!

Wrapping up a visit to Bakerist Brown

I was happy with my first salt cream coffee, and what I liked most was being able to relax comfortably because the space was so large. Next time, I’m going to arrive with a little more room in my stomach and try several of the breads that caught my eye this time :)
