The entrance is up the stairs to the second floor. I think there was also an elevator for anyone who does not enjoy walking.

A comfortable atmosphere for family gatherings, too

Once inside, the restaurant was larger than I expected and very tidy overall.

There were partitioned areas inside where several people could sit together, so it looked like a good place for family gatherings or group dinners. Everything felt well organized, so I think it would suit anyone who prefers a clean restaurant. High chairs were ready as well, so families visiting with children could dine comfortably. It had an atmosphere that would work especially well for family meals or get-togethers among those looking for a good meat restaurant in Pyeongtaek.

Our marinated pork galbi and meal order

We ordered two servings of marinated pork galbi, one soybean paste stew, and one bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles).

First, the banchan (Korean side dishes) arrived one by one: lettuce, chili peppers, garlic, pickled onions, salad, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), yangnyeong gejang (seasoned raw crab), and more, all neatly arranged.

Lettuce and pickled onions among the side dishes

The table was already generously filled before the meat even arrived, which put me in a good mood. The side dishes were also a nice selection to pair with the meat, and it was fun alternating between them.

The flavor of charcoal-scented marinated pork galbi

When the marinated pork galbi we ordered as the main dish arrived, the glossy marinade already looked delicious. As we placed it over the charcoal and slowly began grilling it, the sweet scent of the marinade and the charcoal aroma rose together and whetted our appetites.

Once the meat was partly cooked, we cut it into bite-size pieces and grilled it evenly a little longer. Watching it turn golden on the grill made me understand why pork galbi is such a great weekend dining choice.

The outside was lightly cooked, bringing out a nutty flavor, while the inside stayed tender with moist juices. Rather than being overly sweet, the marinade blended nicely with the flavor of the pork, so it was easy to keep eating.

It was nice to make a big lettuce wrap with a piece of meat, garlic, and ssamjang (savory dipping paste), or add pickled onions for a fresher taste. My husband, true to someone who loves pork galbi, enjoyed it very much. Each bite had that subtle charcoal aroma, making the trip to this Pyeongtaek pork galbi restaurant worthwhile.

Soybean paste stew and bibim naengmyeon together

Warming up with soybean paste stew

After we had eaten some of the meat, we had the soybean paste stew as well. Served bubbling in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot), it contained tofu and vegetables and was warm and comforting.

Having spoonfuls with rice after the meat made my mouth feel settled. Soybean paste stew is hard to skip at a meat restaurant, and having it with the galbi made the meal feel even more substantial.

Finishing with bibim naengmyeon

We finished neatly with bibim naengmyeon. It was topped with cucumber and a boiled egg, with plenty of sauce to mix through.

Its tangy, spicy flavor went well with the pork galbi, and it was such a good match with a piece of meat on top. I loved mixing a cool forkful of noodles after the sweet-savory marinated galbi, so we enjoyed the meal right through to the end.

Omija juice from the receipt review event

After the meal, we joined the receipt review event and received omija juice as well.

The omija juice, filled with ice, was tangy and refreshing, and it felt like it cleared the palate after the meat. It was a small but pleasant ending to be able to enjoy a drink after the meal, too.

Our Saturday evening pork galbi dinner verdict

We came because my husband and I wanted pork galbi on a Saturday evening, and we were satisfied overall—from the large parking lot to the clean, spacious dining room, the neatly served side dishes, and the marinated pork galbi grilled over charcoal. The tables were arranged with plenty of room, so it would be good for two people, but it also looked well suited to a family meal with parents or children, or a group dinner.

If you are looking for a good meat restaurant in Pyeongtaek, or a Pyeongtaek pork galbi restaurant for an easy weekend meal, Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi could be worth a visit. With soybean paste stew and bibim naengmyeon alongside pork galbi infused with a subtle charcoal aroma, it was a memorable, relaxed Saturday evening meal with my husband.
