Pyeongtaek café with three financiers and roomy seating: Cafe Pomun

In short

Cafe Pomun is a dessert café in Songtan, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, serving coffee and a wide range of financiers. I compared salted chocolate, apple fig cinnamon, and yellow cheese financiers with decaf Americano and Pomun Coffee in its spacious seating areas. Verdict: a lovely stop for lingering over baked treats.

Coffee matters when I go to a café, but I like a place with great desserts even more, haha. This time too, I was looking for a dessert café in Songtan and ended up visiting this one. There were so many kinds of financiers that choosing them was fun from the start. After much deliberation, we properly ordered three financiers and two coffees :)

Cafe Pomun parking and hours

There is a spacious parking area behind the building, so it was convenient to visit by car. People often get around Songtan by car, and being able to park right behind the café meant one less thing to worry about.

What are the main building and annex like?

Cafe Pomun has more than just one main building: there are the first and second floors, an outdoor terrace, and even an annex, so the space is quite expansive.

The first floor feels cozy and calm,

and upstairs, the floor-to-ceiling windows make it brighter and more open! The tables are nicely spaced overall, so it looked like a good place to have coffee and chat with a friend or come on a date.

The annex also felt warm and comfortable, with wood-toned interiors, plants, and floor-to-ceiling windows all working together. Even when you are simply looking for desserts at a Songtan café, it is nice when the space is pretty too—and Cafe Pomun has the atmosphere covered, making it easy to linger.

The financiers and coffee we ordered

Ordered financiers and coffee
Ordered financiers and coffee

That day, we ordered a salted chocolate financier, an apple fig cinnamon financier, a yellow cheese financier, a decaf Americano, and Pomun Coffee! The display case had everything from cake slices to baked treats like financiers, so we spent quite a while deciding. In the end, I could not pick just one financier and ordered all three, haha. The baked goods can also be boxed up, so they looked great not only to eat there but also as a simple gift.

Salted chocolate, apple fig cinnamon, and yellow cheese financiers

First up was the salted chocolate financier! The sweet chocolate with a salty accent made it an easy choice for anyone who loves that sweet-and-salty combination. When a dessert has a little savory note rather than being sweet all the way through, you keep reaching for it without even noticing, haha. It paired especially well with a clean Americano.

Of the three, the apple fig cinnamon financier had the fanciest name from the start. With apple, fig, and cinnamon, it had a charm that was a little different from a typical financier. The fruit added another layer of flavor and the cinnamon came through too, making it feel like a more special dessert! If you usually enjoy desserts with figs or cinnamon, this would be a good one to try.

As someone who loves yellow cheese, I could not pass up the yellow cheese financier either, haha. Its distinctive nutty, salty flavor made it taste clearly different from the chocolate and fruit financiers. So even after ordering all three at once, it did not feel like we were just eating similar desserts over and over; it was fun comparing each one. If you like baked treats, I recommend choosing several kinds of financiers and sharing them :)

Decaf Americano and Pomun Coffee

After choosing three financiers, we could not skip drinks either, haha. We ordered one decaf Americano and one Pomun Coffee. Since we had several desserts, we chose the Americano as a clean pairing. Decaf was available, so we could enjoy coffee and dessert together even on a day when we wanted to cut down on caffeine.

And then there was Pomun Coffee, which had me curious from its name alone! When a café you are visiting for the first time has a menu item named after the café, you have to try it at least once, right? Haha. With the financiers and coffee all laid out together, dessert time was properly complete.

A Songtan café that is great for trying several kinds

Cafe Pomun was great for spending time at a relaxed pace because it is so spacious, and I also liked that each area—from the first and second floors of the main building to the annex—has a slightly different atmosphere. Above all, if you love desserts like I do, there is the fun of choosing financiers and other baked treats.

The three financiers I tried—salted chocolate, apple fig cinnamon, and yellow cheese—each had such different flavors that they were great to order together. I think it would suit anyone who wants to enjoy dessert at a lovely place at an unhurried pace, rather than just have coffee and leave. I ended up choosing three, but since each one tasted different, I am glad I tried several kinds, haha.
