In short

Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch is a café in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, serving coffee, salt bread, and baked desserts. I tried Espresso Albero, Orange Sunset, an apple cinnamon financier, and a vanilla canelé in its vintage wood-toned space. Verdict: a lovely stop for coffee and a varied dessert selection.

Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch café and desserts
Coffee and salt bread at Frank Coffee Bar in Dunsan-dong

While I was in Daejeon, I was looking for somewhere I could have coffee along with baked treats, so I visited Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch (프랭크커핀바 대전둔산점). The deep wood-toned exterior caught my eye even before I went in, and once inside, the vintage furniture, lighting, and little decorative touches all created such a lovely atmosphere. Above all, this Dunsan-dong café had a wide variety of Daejeon salt bread, along with baked treats like financiers and canelés, so the coffee-and-dessert pairing worked beautifully ☕️

A Dunsan-dong café full of vintage mood

Wood-toned space with a European café feel

From the entrance onward, Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch had an impressive wood-toned interior reminiscent of an old European café. If, like me, you love warm, European-style wood-toned aesthetics, you will enjoy this atmosphere .ᐟ

Café seating lit by sunlight from the window

Further inside, each table and chair had a slightly different design. During the day, sunlight came through the large windows, so the deep wood tones did not make the space feel too dark, and it was comfortable for chatting.

Even when we visited, lots of people were chatting or enjoying coffee. If you are looking for an atmospheric Daejeon café around Galma-dong or Dunsan-dong, this is a place where you can relax over a coffee. The staff also kindly explained the menu while we ordered, so it was easy to choose even on a first visit.

What kinds of salt bread and baked treats are there?

Bakery area where salt bread is being baked

As befits a great salt bread spot in Dunsan-dong, seeing the bread being baked in-house made me even more curious. There were so many varieties, and the unusual menu items felt fresh .ᐟ

The bakery corner had not only classic salt bread, but also chestnut soboro salt bread and pollock roe mayo salt bread, among many other choices 🥐 Like me, plenty of people have been seeking out great Daejeon salt bread lately, and it really stood out that there was more than just one flavor to choose from according to your taste.

Next to them were baked treats including apple cinnamon, almond florentine, salty caramel, and Dubai financiers, as well as canelés and madeleines. This dessert line is popular with coffee, so although it sells well, turnover is quick and everything stays fresh.

Packaged desserts and gift boxes

The desserts are lovely with coffee, but there are also many that travel well. With the elegant boxes, this felt like a café I would think of when looking for a simple gift near Galma-dong.

Salt bread reservations and the event at the time of visit

Salt bread and baked treat reservation information

Salt bread and baked treats can be reserved through Naver, so if there is something you want, reserve it before visiting .ᐟ It would be useful when buying several Daejeon salt breads or preparing a gift.

Receipt-review event information
Frank Lucky Draw prize information

At the time of my visit, they were also running a Frank Lucky Draw receipt-review event 🎁 You could enter after spending ₩30,000 or more and writing a receipt review, and prizes ranged from ₩50,000 and ₩30,000 Frank gift cards to a Frank glass cup, three baked treats, a croffle, drinks, and pens. Gift cards were also available separately, with bonus top-up benefits listed by recharge amount, so frequent visitors may want to check that out too.

Takeaway Americano discount information

They were also running a takeaway event, so you could get an Americano to go for ₩3,000 instead of ₩4,800. Be sure to take advantage of the offer.

The drinks and desserts I tried

  • Iced Americano
  • Espresso Albero
  • Orange Sunset
  • Apple cinnamon financier
  • Vanilla canelé
The ordered coffee and baked treats

I had the Espresso Albero with a Naver Place coupon. Served strong in a small cup, the Albero had a nutty flavor and was nice to sip little by little with dessert.

Orange Sunset is a new drink that adds bright orange freshness to espresso, but the Americano aroma was not as strong as I expected. It cleansed the palate nicely, so it paired well with the baked treats too 🍊

Enjoying coffee and dessert together

The apple cinnamon financier was a dessert where the nutty texture of the outside went well with the gentle apple and cinnamon flavors. If you want a financier that is not overly sweet, this is just right.

Apple cinnamon financier and vanilla canelé

Personally, the vanilla canelé was the most delicious for my taste. Its outside was deeply baked and chewy while the inside was moist, with a rich vanilla aroma, making it perfect alongside an Americano 🤎

My overall take on coffee and dessert together

Café space for enjoying coffee and salt bread

Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch felt more like a place to enjoy Daejeon salt bread and baked treats together with coffee than somewhere to simply have one cup. From the vintage interior to the varied desserts, Naver reservations, and takeaway options, it was convenient to use. If you are looking for a café in Dunsan-dong or Galma-dong, or want to enjoy coffee and dessert at an atmospheric Daejeon café, I think it is worth stopping by Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch 🙌🏻
