Fried egg and carrot slaw on olive-oil-toasted bread is one of my two meals a day. When I was almost out of bread, I found out about Chamsae Bori, a barley bread bakery famous in Bucheon. It's close to my sister's place so I stopped by while I was in the area — hearing it's a line-up bakery made me even more excited.
Barley instead of wheat: the Bucheon Station bread shop worth queuing for
- They mainly sell three kinds: Daesang Chalbori ₩6,000, Gogmul Chalbori ₩6,500, Homil Chalbori ₩3,700
- Homil Chalbori with whipped cream went down soft and smooth
- Opens at 10am and closes early once sold out — arriving before opening is recommended

Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch is at 183-1 Gyeongin-ro, Sosa-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, 1st floor. It's about 600m, a 7-8 minute walk, toward Incheon from Exit 2 of Bucheon Station on Line 1. It's near the Simgok overpass intersection, so it's not hard to find.
There's no dedicated store parking. If you're driving, apparently many people park at the E-mart at Bucheon Station and walk over.
Why Chamsae Bori Sikppang is the barley loaf to buy in Bucheon
I heard there's the most bread and a wait right at opening, so I arrived before 10am. About 10 minutes early, there were around 4-5 people ahead of me. When I turned around while waiting, the line had already gotten much longer.
Everyone else seemed used to waiting, like regulars. I was there for the first time, looking around and busy taking photos.
