I found a sweet dessert spot while out in Seongsu! Let me introduce Mellows, a Seongsu dessert café where you can enjoy smooth soft serve made with Sangha Farm milk.

Why we ended up at Mellows after the Alsatang musical

Mellows is an ice cream café in Seongsu that we visited on the way out of the Alsatang (a children's musical about a magic candy) with my kids. After the show we stopped by the gift shop, and the kids spotted an ice cream toy, haha. That's where the ice cream song began... they kept singing about wanting ice cream. In the end, we gave in to the kids and went to get some, lol.

That's how we found Mellows. And it turned out the atmosphere was prettier than I expected and the ice cream was delicious, so we were really happy with it! Since it's Sangha Farm ice cream, which the kids love, I liked it even more.

Where is Mellows, and what are the opening hours?

Mellows is at 1F, 7 Wangsimni-ro 10-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, about a 2–3 minute walk from Exit 7 of Ttukseom Station. Hours are Monday 07:00–20:00, Tuesday to Friday 07:00 to 01:00 the next day, and Saturday 11:00 to 01:00 the next day. It's closed every Sunday. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby paid lot.

Mellows is a Seongsu dessert café close to Ttukseom Station. It's also not far from Seoulsup, so it's a good place to drop into after a walk or a day out with the kids. Seongsu has so much to see and so many cafés, right? Among them, Mellows is all about the ice cream, which made it even better for visiting with children.

Mellows' atmosphere and terrace

Mellows' red brick exterior and terrace

Mellows is a small, cozy café with Seongsu alley charm: a red brick building with wood-tone interiors. The exterior caught my eye right away, and with the warm wood tones added to the red brick, the space has that signature Seongsu feel.

The inside is done in wood tones and felt snug the moment we walked in. The walls have a plywood-like wood look, so photos come out warm. And true to a Seongsu café, even the terrace seating is prettily decorated. On a nice day, wouldn't it be perfect to sit out there with a cold ice cream?

The café isn't big, but its cute, compact feel was actually part of the charm. There were lots of pretty spots for photos with the kids, so I took quite a few pictures. We came for ice cream and ended up taking tons of photos, haha.

Mellows soft serve starts at ₩3,500 and is made on a Sangha Farm milk base. For Seongsu, that's a pretty fair price, right? Soft serve made with Sangha Farm milk from ₩3,500! It's an easy dessert to enjoy with kids, which made me like it even more.

I spent a long time over the menu, haha. Everything looked good and I couldn't choose easily. I was especially curious about the Jeju matcha. This time I decided to try other items, so next visit I'll definitely have the Jeju matcha soft serve!

What we ordered at Mellows

Ice cream and americano ordered at Mellows

At Mellows we ordered an americano, an affogato soft serve, and an Only Milk soft serve for the kids.

Only Milk soft serve: the cereal underneath is the treat

Mellows Only Milk soft serve

The Mellows Only Milk soft serve comes with cereal layered under the Sangha Farm milk ice cream. Being made with Sangha Farm milk, it was needless to say smooth, and the kids ate it up. The look of it alone was really appetizing. Seeing the soft serve piled up so smoothly, I couldn't wait to try it myself. With the cereal underneath, there's the fun of mixing it with the ice cream at the end.

This was a surprisingly great touch. You start with just the smooth ice cream, and when you reach the part with the cereal the texture changes completely, so you don't get tired of it until the very end.

Affogato soft serve: a bittersweet bite for grown-ups

Mellows affogato soft serve

The Mellows affogato soft serve is smooth milk ice cream with espresso poured over it. The bittersweet coffee meets the nutty milk and gives the ice cream more depth. It was fun to watch the ice cream slowly melt and mix with the coffee, too.

While the kids had their Only Milk, this bitter little bite felt like a short break for me. I liked that everyone could enjoy the same milk ice cream to their own taste.

Americano ₩2,500

The Mellows americano is ₩2,500, which is easy on the wallet for Seongsu. I ordered it to go with the ice cream, and sipping it between bites cleaned up my palate so I could enjoy the ice cream to the end.

Things to know before visiting Mellows

  • Opening hours differ by day, so check before you go. Monday closes at 20:00, Saturday opens at 11:00, and Sunday is closed.
  • Soft serve melts fast, so I recommend eating it as soon as you get it.
  • The place listing has no parking information, so if you're driving, check before you go, or I'd suggest walking from Ttukseom Station.

A Seongsu outing with kids: my overall take on Mellows

Mellows ice cream enjoyed with the kids

Thanks to the kids singing the ice cream song after the Alsatang musical, we visited Seongsu dessert spot Mellows! At first we only went because the kids wanted ice cream. But the ice cream was tastier than I expected and the atmosphere was pretty, so even I was satisfied.

Mellows Sangha Farm milk soft serve

The nutty, smooth taste of Sangha Farm milk suited the kids' palates, and mixing in the cereal underneath was fun. Getting tasty soft serve at this price in Seongsu was also a real draw. With a small indoor space and a nice terrace, it was great for photos too. Above all, the kids had such a good time that it'll stay in my memory.

Next time I'm in Seongsu, I'll definitely try the Jeju matcha soft serve I agonized over and missed this time, haha. If you're looking for a dessert café to take kids to in Seongsu, or you like Sangha Farm milk ice cream, Mellows is worth a visit!
