Jeongja Vietnamese restaurant: bánh mì even a 5-year-old ate, Kkamon

Kkamon Bundang Jeongja Direct Store is a Vietnamese restaurant on Jeongjail-ro near Jeongja Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a second visit, two adults and two kids shared a ₩9,000 bánh mì, ₩11,000 Kkamon pho, ₩14,000 fried chicken neck and ₩13,000 Kkamon fried rice. The bánh mì, ordered for the first time, had marinated meat soaking into a moist baguette, and the 5-year-old ate it happily. The water spinach stir-fry was sold out again, but Kkamon Bundang Jeongja Direct Store is a satisfying spot for lunch with kids near Jeongja Station.

Small-group Pilates in Seohyeon: a two-person class at Beige Pilates

Beige Pilates Seohyeon is a Pilates studio on the 3rd floor of Good Morning Plaza in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, offering 4:1 group, duet and 1:1 private classes. The writer, returning to exercise after a break, booked a 4:1 small-group class that had only two people that day, so the Beige Pilates instructor corrected each posture in detail and adjusted the difficulty to the writer's condition. With clean facilities and several lesson rooms equipped with the four main Pilates apparatus, Beige Pilates Seohyeon is worth considering if you want small-group Pilates in Seohyeon.

Namwirye family rice paper wrap buffet, kids roll their own: Dadam

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is a self-serve, all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu and wolnamssam (rice paper wrap) restaurant on the 3rd floor of G&G Plaza, near Exit 3 of Namwirye Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a weekend, the family waited more than 30-40 minutes to get in, refilled beef chuck several times in a half-spicy, half-clear broth, and the kids rolled their own rice paper wraps before everyone finished with soft serve ice cream. Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch suits families with kids who want shabu-shabu, rice paper wraps and dessert in one meal.

Bundang kalguksu spot, sous-vide-juicy chicken katsu: Myeongyeok

Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae (면계옥 분당수내점) is a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Bundang, Seongnam, near Exit 3 of Sunae Station, serving chicken kalguksu, naengmyeon (cold noodles) and chicken katsu. With the kids, the writer ordered a chicken kalguksu + chicken katsu set and a bibim naengmyeon + 2-piece chicken tenderloin katsu set, and her first-ever chicken katsu was so tender and juicy that she and her husband wondered whether it had been cooked sous vide. Between the chicken kalguksu dipped in perilla oil sauce and the chicken katsu sandwiches made with morning rolls, Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae is worth recommending to families trying chicken katsu for the first time.

Seoulsup burger pub: kids' lunch before a musical at Bas Burger

Bas Burger Seongsu is a handmade burger and craft beer pub near Ttukseom Station Exit 7 in Seongdong, Seoul, on the lane leading to Seoulsup. Before the Alsatang musical at Seoulsup, the writer and their kids had lunch at Bas Burger Seongsu: two teriyaki-mayo kids' burger sets, a Bas Burger set, a Hawaiian Burger set and a Chili Mozzarella Cheese Bar. The kids liked the unlimited self-bar chips most. Bas Burger Seongsu is a good handmade burger stop for a Seoulsup day out with children.

Seongsu ice cream café after the Alsatang musical with kids: Mellows

Mellows is a soft serve dessert café in a Seongsu-dong alley near Exit 7 of Ttukseom Station in Seoul, making its ice cream with Sangha Farm milk. After watching the Alsatang musical, the writer brought the kids, who were still singing its ice cream song, and ordered an Only Milk soft serve, an affogato soft serve and an americano; the smooth soft serve over a cereal layer and prices starting at 3,500 won left everyone happy. For an ice cream café in Seongsu to visit with children, Mellows is a recommended stop.

Family Mexican restaurant in Jeongja-dong: kids' taquitos, Elato

Elato Bundang is a Mexican restaurant on Naejeong-ro in Jeongja-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam. A family of four with two kids walked in without a reservation, were seated with no wait, and ordered shrimp tacos, a quesadilla, kids' taquitos without jalapeños and birria ramen. With plenty of dishes children happily eat, Elato Bundang is a good Mexican restaurant for a family meal out.

Pangyo tonkatsu with kids: yuzu fillet & cheese katsu, Katsu Shokudo

Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch (카츠쇼쿠도우 판교본점) is a tonkatsu restaurant on basement level 1 of Alphadom Tower 3, across from Hyundai Department Store in Pangyo, Seongnam. A family with kids shared mozzarella cheese katsu (16,000 won), a fillet katsu set (18,000 won) and kimchi katsu nabe (hot pot). The yuzu-aged fillet katsu was tender, and the kids happily stretched the mozzarella cheese. With a short walk in and free extra rice, Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch was a good fit for a family meal with kids in Pangyo.

Shabu-kalguksu in Suji, Yongin after a movie with kids: Yun Ujae

Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch is a shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Gogi-ro in Dongcheon-dong, Suji-gu, Yongin. After a movie and a grocery run with 4- and 5-year-old kids, the writer ordered the white-broth shabu-kalguksu for 2 at ₩11,500 per person and a ₩16,000 crispy seafood pajeon (savory pancake), then finished with kimchi fried rice. With its mild seafood broth, high chairs, waiting room and private parking, Yun Ujae is an easy pick for a family dinner with young children.

Pangyo gyukatsu spot: Friday family dinner and 40-min wait, Ichigyu

Ichigyu Avenuefrance Pangyo is a gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) restaurant on the 2nd floor of Avenuefrance in Pangyo, Seongnam. The writer booked through Catch Table for a Friday evening with the kids, still waited 30–40 minutes, and then ate the gyukatsu tenderloin and striploin set (₩45,000) plus karaage and fried shrimp (₩12,000). Ichigyu Avenuefrance Pangyo pleased both kids and adults as a family dinner spot, but if you're bringing children, arrive before 6 p.m.

Family noodle spot near Lotte Mall Suji: beef jjolmyeon, Chilseong

Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch is a fresh-noodle restaurant on the first floor of Seohee Starhills near Seongbok Station in Suji-gu, Yongin. After time at Lotte Mall Suji, the family drove 5 minutes to Chilseong Jemyeonso with the kids and ate charcoal-grilled beef bibim jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles, 14,500 won), a tray soba set (15,500 won) and a real cheese pork cutlet (14,500 won), with roomy table spacing and free parking making the meal easy. For a family meal with kids near Lotte Mall Suji, Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch covers both good food and a child-friendly setting.

Jokbal restaurant in Sunae-dong for meat-craving kids: Wangchang

Wangchang Jokbal (왕창족발) is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) restaurant at the entrance of the Sunae-dong food alley, near Sunae Station Exit 1 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a weekend evening, with kids who wanted meat, the writer ordered a medium original jokbal plus 2 extra bowls of rice. The most memorable part was the chewy jokbal wrapped with the salted oysters (eorigul-jeot) served as a standard side. For a family jokbal dinner near Sunae Station, Wangchang Jokbal is a safe choice.
