Yongsan date-night ramen restaurant with zaru soba and gyoza: Okagura

In short

Okagura Ramen is a house-made-noodle tonkotsu ramen restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul, a 6-minute walk from Itaewon Station Exit 4. The meal was umakara tonkotsu at spice level 2 with extra noodles, zaru soba (120g, 13,000 won) and bite-size gyoza (dumplings, 6,000 won), with flame-torched chashu and dumplings folded to order. With plenty of Japanese sawa and other drinks, Okagura Ramen works well for a Yongsan date dinner.

Where is Okagura Ramen, and where do you park?

Okagura Ramen is really close to Itaewon Station! It's about a 6-minute walk from Exit 4. The building is neat and tidy so you can spot it right away. For parking, you can use the Yongsan-gu Administration Town underground lot near the building (only ₩1,000 for the first 30 minutes, ₩2,500 even for a full hour — cheap!!), but honestly public transit will be way more convenient for a Yongsan date course! Being right near Itaewon Station makes access really excellent.

The exterior already has that authentic Japan feel!

Warmly lit open-kitchen interior of Okagura Ramen

Inside, the warm lighting glows softly and the vibe is really nice! It's set up as an open kitchen, so there's the added fun of watching the chef at work. There are also group seats inside, so it's plenty suitable for small gatherings or work dinners.

The restroom inside is kept clean and tidy too, so you can use it comfortably. If you really want to feel that Japanese atmosphere in Yongsan, this is the best choice!

You can order everything by QR code, which is really convenient! Let me introduce the main menu. Tonkotsu ramen is ₩13,000, and umakara tonkotsu (spicy tonkotsu) comes in levels 1 through 3, all priced at ₩13,000. Miso ramen is also ₩14,000, and mize soba (takes 15 minutes to prepare) is ₩14,000. Zaru soba (cold dipping noodles) is ₩13,000 for 120g, or ₩16,000 for the large 180g. Hanip gyoza (bite-size dumplings) is ₩6,000, apparently handmade fresh every day! For sides, extra noodles are ₩3,000, noodles plus broth is ₩5,000, and rice is free. For a restaurant near Itaewon Station, I think the prices are really reasonable!

Tasting umakara tonkotsu level 2 with extra noodles

This is what we ordered~
Umakara tonkotsu level 2 ramen with extra noodles

I got the umakara tonkotsu (level 2) with extra noodles, and it exceeded expectations! Umakara tonkotsu (level 2) + extra noodles: around ₩16,000.

Maybe because the noodles are handmade in-house, they're chewy, and they come with a slightly spicy tonkotsu broth and bean sprouts — this is basically Japan itself! It really has that authentic local feel. You can add sauce to taste, so no need to worry about seasoning being off! And can you tell the chashu is lovingly flame-torched, unlike other ramen shops?! One bite and that moist, smoky flavor is the best! haha

Zaru soba (120g), 13,000 won

Zaru soba 120g served with cold meat topping
Soba dipping sauce with grated radish and hot mustard

They told me the zaru soba is seasoned strongly in authentic Japanese style, so dip only half the noodle in — but it suited my taste perfectly, and adding grated radish and hot mustard let me enjoy a rich, bold-flavored soba! Not salty at all, and the sweet-savory balance was really great!! Did you notice how big the cold meat topping on the zaru soba is? They even gave two pieces, so it was really generous. Eating the cold meat and noodles together in one bite is truly exceptional!

Bite-size gyoza, 6,000 won

Freshly grilled hanip gyoza
Handmade hanip gyoza dipped in garlic soy sauce

The hanip gyoza is made fresh right on the spot, Japanese gyoza style! Being handmade dumplings, they're bursting with juice, and dipping them in garlic soy sauce is so tasty. The crispy texture holds up perfectly — a truly ideal side dish!
