Where to park at Jeju Dongmun Market with the least crowding

For parking at Jeju Dongmun Market, I recommend the public lot at 9 Dongmun-ro 4-gil (lot 2 on the map). There are plenty of public lots around the market, and since today's spot, Cheongchuni Oranda, sits right in the center of the market, parking anywhere nearby works fine — but I (Olla-yang) usually prefer lot 2.

Navigation apps usually point you to lot 1 on the map above, at 16-8 Jungang-ro 13-gil, Ido-ildong, Jeju City. That one tends to draw more people and get more crowded. That's exactly why I prefer the lot at 9 Dongmun-ro 4-gil.

Parking is free for the first 30 minutes, ₩1,000 for 31 to 45 minutes, then ₩500 for every 15 minutes after that. There are 4+ fast EV chargers, and the parking building has an elevator, so parking on a high floor won't be a hassle.

What to eat on Meokja-ro, the Dongmun Market food alley

The moment you step out of the parking lot and into Meokja-ro (the food alley), all sorts of flashy Dongmun Market food starts appearing.

The tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) spot to know in this stretch is Seoul Tteokbokki,

and there's also Oiljang Tteokbokki, a snack stall Blackpink once visited back in the day. If they came back once more, Dongmun Market might just go globally famous 😁

The special rice cakes made with hwangchil (a Jeju tree resin) might be food you can only find here at Dongmun Market.

It's called the night market, but the food stalls at Dongmun Market's night market catch your eyes and nose even in broad daylight.

Most of us imagine oranda as a hard, teeth-sticking kind of snack.

But the moment you try the sample here, it doesn't stick at all — it melts right on your tongue — and suddenly you're way more into picking which flavor to buy.

Cheongchuni Oranda prices, from single pieces to gift sets

The individually wrapped pieces were yuzu oranda and garlic (manong) oranda at ₩3,500 each, and Udo peanut oranda and seaweed (gamtae) oranda at ₩4,000 each — with a discount if you bought 3 or more.

If you're picking up a Jeju gift for someone you're a bit more casual with, the ₩10,000 and ₩11,000 value bags looked like a good deal.

But if you're after a Dongmun Market gift that looks a little more impressive, the gift-wrapped oranda set looked great. It was ₩23,000.
