Mac bowl and grilled chicken salad at Dixie's, a Jeju restaurant
In short
Dixie's is a Southern American-style restaurant on Gwandeok-ro 8-gil, near Jeju Dongmun Market in Jeju City. At Dixie's the order was the Nashville hot chicken mac and bowl plus a grilled chicken salad, alternating between thick, rich mac and cheese with spicy chicken and lighter grilled chicken. Dixie's is a good stop for a change of pace when Jeju's local dishes start to feel repetitive.

When you're traveling around Jeju, there comes a point when you want something other than black pork, hairtail, or noodle soup, right? Haha, so this time I went to Dixie's, near Jeju Dongmun Market, which serves Southern American-style food. I like Nashville hot chicken in general, so the moment I saw the menu I was curious. I ordered two things: the Nashville hot chicken mac and bowl, and the grilled chicken salad :)

Where is Dixie's, and how close is it to Dongmun Market?
Dixie's is at 24 Gwandeok-ro 8-gil in Jeju-si, not far from Jeju Dongmun Market, so it's easy to stop by before or after browsing the market. There's also a public parking lot right across the street, which made it convenient even while getting around Jeju by rental car.

Hours are Wednesday to Monday, 11:30 to 22:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 16:30, and they're closed every Tuesday, so it's worth checking before you go. If you're looking for a Jeju Dongmun Market restaurant that isn't the usual local food, this was a good spot to have in mind.

Inside Dixie's: Southern American mood and seating in Jeju
Once inside, the atmosphere was clearly different from a typical Jeju restaurant. The wood-toned interior had a touch of Southern American feel to it, so it felt like stepping into someplace different while traveling. There were tables for two and four as well as bar seating, so it seemed like a good spot for a date or for a bigger group ordering a few dishes to share.

Dixie's menu and how to order
Dixie's had more variety than I expected — Nashville hot chicken alongside other chicken dishes, burgers, rice bowls, and mac and cheese, all Southern American-style. Ordering was easy: just scan the QR code on the table with your phone. Browse the menu, pick what you want, and order right from your seat, done.
Water and utensils were self-serve, so you grab what you need. What I picked were the two dishes — the Nashville hot chicken mac and bowl and the grilled chicken salad :)

How did the Nashville hot chicken mac and bowl taste?
This was honestly the dish I was most looking forward to that day — Dixie's Nashville hot chicken mac and bowl. I already like mac and cheese, so adding spicy Nashville hot chicken on top? Hard for that combo not to work, haha.
The first bite hits with the thick, savory richness of the mac and cheese, then the spicy, salty flavor of the chicken kicks in right after. Mac and cheese alone can get a bit heavy after a while, but the spicy chicken balances it out nicely.
The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside, so it tasted best scooped up together with a big bite of the mac and cheese, haha. It's a different feeling from an ordinary rice bowl or chicken dish, so if you're not sure what to order at Dixie's, this one is worth trying.

Why the grilled chicken salad paired well with the mac bowl
Since the mac and bowl is a fairly heavy dish, pairing it with the grilled chicken salad worked out well. Fresh vegetables topped with nicely browned grilled chicken — the chicken wasn't dry at all, it was tender, with a subtle grilled flavor on the outside.
Eating the crisp vegetables together with the light grilled chicken was perfect for resetting my palate between bites of the Nashville hot chicken mac and bowl. Other posts I referenced also described the grilled chicken as moist and tender, paired well with vegetables.
So if you're visiting with someone, ordering one heavier dish plus the grilled chicken salad to share seems like a good combination.

A meal at Dixie's when Jeju's local food feels repetitive

When you're traveling around Jeju, you naturally end up eating a lot of local Jeju food, but after a few days there's usually a moment when you crave something different like a burger or chicken. Dixie's was a great Jeju Dongmun Market restaurant for exactly that kind of day. I especially liked that instead of the usual franchise style, you can pick from Southern American dishes like Nashville hot chicken, rice bowls, and mac and cheese.
The Nashville hot chicken mac and bowl I had was a great savory-spicy combo, and the grilled chicken salad was light, so going back and forth between the two worked well. If you're near Jeju Dongmun Market and looking for a slightly different meal, check out Dixie's :)
