Only 3 pieces of grilled heart in a Mokdong gopchang platter: Omokgyo
In short
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is a handmade garlic gopchang (beef intestine) restaurant in Mokdong, Yangcheon, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station. Two friends arrived at 6pm on a public holiday, waited about 5 minutes for a table and ordered the mixed gopchang for two at 55,800 won plus fried rice with extra cheese. The grilled heart came to only 3 pieces, but the scallion kimchi cut the richness well, and Omokgyo Gopchang is worth ordering three portions for two people.

Today I'm bringing you a review of Omokgyo Gopchang, a gopchang (grilled beef intestine) spot near Omokgyo Station that I visited this past Monday holiday!
This place is famous for its handmade garlic gopchang, where whole garlic cloves are stuffed right inside the intestine. A friend from Pyeongtaek was coming up to Seoul after a while, so we decided to grab dinner together here.
We went around 6pm, right in dinner rush hour, and there was about a 5-minute wait, but we got seated pretty quickly. It's a popular place so there might be a wait — but the turnover still seemed fast!
Where is Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch, and where do you park?
It's about 3 minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station. The alley is fairly narrow, so there's no dedicated parking — you'll need to use the nearby Mokdong public parking lot!
Since gopchang often comes with a shot of soju, taking public transit is probably a better bet.

The interior is spacious, and the moment you walk in, there's this rich smell of grilled garlic — total smell marketing!! It gets your mouth watering before you even eat. There's even a photo booth machine you can use while you wait, haha.
What we ordered at Omokgyo Gopchang and what comes with it
We ordered the mixed gopchang for two and fried rice with extra cheese at Omokgyo Gopchang.

They even bring cold water and a vitamin drink — such thoughtful service!

Once you order, they set the table with scallion kimchi, potato salad, pickled onion, sauce, cheonyeop (tripe), chive salad, and sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew).

The cheonyeop that comes as a service dish was fresh and had a nice crunchy bite.

Omokgyo Gopchang's signature scallion kimchi! It really was delicious with deep flavor. Tastes like something made at home!

Mixed gopchang for two, 55,800 won, ready in 5 minutes on the grill
The mixed gopchang for two (₩55,800) doesn't come pre-grilled — it arrives raw and you cook it right there. After about 5 minutes on the grill, everything was cooked through, so we dug in quickly.
Mixed platter → premium domestic garlic gopchang, hwangso gopchang, daechang, makchang, beehive tripe, and a full grilled heart.

They told us to eat the heart first, so we did — but there were only 3 pieces of heart. I wish they'd given us a bit more. It was soft and tender and really tasty though.

We grilled everything sizzling hot and tried the heart, garlic gopchang, regular gopchang, daechang, beehive tripe, and makchang one by one.

The makchang had a chewy texture that was excellent.

The gopchang with whole garlic cloves inside!! The subtle garlic aroma made it really tasty.

We also tried the plump, fat-marbled daechang. Delicious as always!!!

Cheese fried rice with seasoned chives mixed in
Eating just the gopchang alone felt a bit light on portion, so we ordered fried rice with extra cheese!! You fry it yourself to taste — we thought the cheese flavor was a bit strong, so we threw in the chive side dish that came with the meal, and wow, it was amazing!!! I bet it'd be great with the scallion kimchi mixed in too. The rice had been kind of bland, but adding the chives made the seasoning just right.

As a true native Korean, a meal doesn't feel complete without some carbs at the end...
Honest verdict: two people should order three portions
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch, famous for scallion kimchi and garlic gopchang near Omokgyo Station. Just seeing how packed the place was inside told me this was a solid spot. If we'd arrived even a little later, we might have had a much longer wait — good thing we didn't.
We ordered the mixed gopchang for two, which let us try a bit of everything — heart, gopchang, daechang, makchang, and tripe. Grilling their signature scallion kimchi together with the gopchang kept things from getting too greasy, so we could keep eating without getting sick of it. And the free sundubu jjigae was a nice, refreshing way to settle the stomach afterward.
Like most grilled meat places, I'd recommend ordering a 3-person portion rather than just 2 servings for two people! If you're looking for a meat or gopchang restaurant around Omokgyo, this one's worth a visit. That's my honest review!
