Gwangju Korean BBQ lunch with beef ribs and bibim naengmyeon
In short
Jeongwon Galbi Gyeonggi Gwangju Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, with ample parking and private rooms. I had the weekday afternoon lunch special of beef rib meat with bibim naengmyeon and mul naengmyeon. Verdict: the tender beef and nutty sesame-oil noodles were a winning pair.

When you go out for 🍖 meat in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, I bet lots of you look for somewhere spacious with easy parking, right?

I was looking for somewhere to have lunch around Songjeong-dong this time and ended up visiting Jeongwon Galbi Gyeonggi Gwangju Branch!

I was surprised by the scale before I even went in. There was plenty of parking not only out front but behind it too, so I could head in without worrying about 🚘 parking.
A spacious setting for family meals and gatherings
🌿 Once inside, the restaurant was really spacious. There were plenty of tables on the first floor, and several private rooms on the second floor (10 rooms), so I thought it would work well for family meals, gatherings, or work dinners too!

📍Each room had a slightly different feel and view from the window, so for a larger group, it might be nice to ✅️reserve ahead.
Beef rib meat set ordered from the weekday lunch special
I visited at about 🕑 2 p.m. on a weekday, so I was able to get the lunch special.

We ordered two servings of the beef rib meat 🥩 set, then chose one 🌶️ bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and one 🥶 mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) for dessert.
Neat side dishes, seasoned raw crab, and a self-service bar
🥬 Every side dish served with the meat was so neat and tidy!

And you know the dish you look forward to at a galbi restaurant? Seasoned raw crab! 🦀 The yangnyeom gejang (spicy marinated raw crab) here was seriously delicious!

The sweet, 🌶 spicy seasoning had soaked in nicely, so I kept picking at it between bites of meat. Best of all, there was a self-service bar where I could easily get the vegetables 🥬 and side dishes I wanted.

I also brought over some 🧄 garlic to grill.

👶 There were high chairs too, which I thought would be handy for families visiting with children.
Tender beef rib meat grilled over charcoal
🔥 The meat is grilled over charcoal.

Just looking at it made my mouth water...!! 🤭 The beef rib meat 🥩 was much more tender than I expected. Even if the seasoning is good, tough meat is disappointing, but the meat itself here was tender.

It was good simply dipped in a little 🧂 salt, topped with wasabi, wrapped in lettuce, or eaten with grilled garlic. Personally, I liked the meat's own flavor and texture, so I could kind of understand why there can be a wait!
Bibim naengmyeon with a nutty sesame-oil aroma
🍜 There was one dish I remembered most from this meal: the 🌶 bibim naengmyeon. I actually can't handle spicy food very well (a total spice wimp issue), so if bibim naengmyeon is too spicy or intense, I can't really eat it.

But the sauce here was really good! It had plenty of sesame oil, so that nutty aroma hit right away with the first bite—and with the beef rib meat, it was truly 🤦 a perfect match!!

I wrapped some noodles around a piece of meat, ate another piece of meat, haha—really, you just can't resist the galbi-and-naengmyeon pairing 😂 The 🥶 mul naengmyeon was cool and clean-tasting too, so it was nice to share both.
Comfortable service throughout the meal and a little after-meal treat
😊 Another thing I liked was how kind the staff were. They kept an eye on the fire and meat themselves, and proactively brought over side dishes or 🥬 anything we needed, so I could eat comfortably without having to keep asking for things. Little details like these quietly make a meal more satisfying, I think 💚
☕️ On the way out after the meal, I noticed a coffee machine and maesil tea (Korean green plum tea) had been set out too.

That was the moment I thought, this place has great attention to detail 😋 They were also running a receipt event and an SNS event.

📍If you visit, I think it would be worth checking out these events too.
I especially loved the combination of tender beef rib meat + nutty bibim naengmyeon! 🥩🍜
