This is Halls Gimbap, a great place for solo dining in Gyodae! Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점), a well-known gimbap spot near Seocho and Gyodae Station, is also one of the best places around Gyodae for a meal on your own. Group gimbap orders are possible too. More than other gimbap places, Halls Gimbap has lots of dishes that make the most of protein with quality ingredients, so it is one of my regulars!! And it turns out Halls Gimbap is also amazing at the dakgangjeong gimbap that has been so trendy lately.

Hours and the solo-dining vibe

Halls Gimbap near Gyodae, a great solo-dining spot, is open from 08:30 to 20:00, with a break from 15:00 to 16:00. Gimbap is delicious whenever you eat it, and it is one of those universally loved foods you never get tired of!!

Regular gimbap can be worrying because it has so much rice and therefore so many carbs. But keto gimbap and the trendy dakgangjeong gimbap are packed with more vegetables than rice, so they have the perfect balance of carbs, protein, and fat—and taste great too. I think that is why gimbap is one of my favorite meal choices. Halls Gimbap has a completely no-pressure atmosphere for eating alone!! With its bar table, it is perfect for a solo lunch near Gyodae Station.

One reason I love Halls Gimbap is that its dakgangjeong—sweet, crispy Korean fried chicken bites—is seriously so good compared with similar brands or other dakgangjeong gimbap!!! Halls Gimbap cooks its egg strips and fish cake with high-quality olive oil, so both its gimbap and dakgangjeong are made deliciously with great ingredients!! Dakgangjeong gimbap has become such a common menu item that you can find it anywhere these days, but Halls Gimbap is the one that earned a passing grade from my picky palate—especially when it comes to meat!!

Halls Gimbap has more than gimbap, too: scorched-rice tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and cabbage protein tteokbokki! There are lots of healthier options, making it a great place for a low-carb, high-fat diet ❤️

And another charm and advantage of Halls Gimbap is this ramen corner!! Gimbap cannot go without ramen!! There is a whole lineup of cup noodles that go nicely with gimbap. At Halls Gimbap, a great solo-dining place near Gyodae Station, you can have a really satisfying meal with ramen and gimbap even when you are eating alone, haha.

It was packed full of lettuce and cucumber, plus wasabi for that sharp, spicy kick, so every bite was wonderfully crisp and delicious.

Even the rice at Halls Gimbap is black rice, making this gimbap a step above other dakgangjeong gimbap in ingredient quality 🍙

And the real appeal here is the dakgangjeong!!! The joy of dakgangjeong gimbap is, honestly, the dakgangjeong itself, right? haha. Even thinking about it again, dakgangjeong + gimbap—what a smart combination, haha. When I was little, on special days like picnics or school sports days, our lunchboxes had gimbap and chicken—usually seasoned fried chicken—on the side. In a way, haha, those event lunchboxes may have been the origin of today's dakgangjeong gimbap.

If you visit Halls Gimbap, I really recommend ordering the dakgangjeong on its own too!! It is truly crispy on the outside, tender inside, and so delicious with that crisp-outside, moist-inside texture :)

I definitely had dakgangjeong gimbap just yesterday, but compared with that one, Halls Gimbap's dakgangjeong is practically at the level of a specialty fried-chicken shop!!
