Suwon Italian restaurant for Hot Pot Pescatore pasta: Low Five

I visited Low Five, a great pizza-and-pasta spot in Haenggung-dong! I went through Super Members, but it still ranks among the best pizza and pasta I’ve had lately.

Here begins my honest review of Low Five, a Suwon Haenggung-dong pizza restaurant I’d want to recommend to friends headed to Haenggung-dong, too! (It has the kind of flavors women love~) Also recommended for taking your girlfriend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Where should you park in Suwon Haenggung-dong?

Use the Seon-gyeong Library, I'Park City Museum of Art, or Jangan-dong public parking lots.

Almost every shop in Suwon’s Haenggung-dong is run out of converted houses, so you can pretty much assume there won’t be parking. Apparently, people even say you should take public transport if you’re going to Haenggung-dong. Low Five suggests three parking lots: Seon-gyeong Library, I'Park City Museum of Art, and Jangan-dong public parking. Seon-gyeong Library is right next door, while the museum and Jangan-dong lots are within a 10-minute walk. Sinpung-dong public parking is close too, but it is resident-priority parking, and I understand outside vehicles cannot park after 6 PM, so I skipped it... 🅿️🚗 For reference, I parked at Jangan-dong public parking, and it was just the right walking distance with my four-year-old. But even at 5 PM on a weekday, there was a line to get in... At first I thought, “Well, this is a fail,” but cars did go in one by one as we waited. I think we lined up for about 10 minutes before getting in.

• Seon-gyeong Library public parking: Open 24 hours / above ground. First 60 minutes free, then ₩600 per additional 10 minutes. ₩15,000 daily. *Check whether the lot is operating on regular library closure days.
• I'Park City Museum of Art: Open 9:30 AM–9:00 PM / underground. First 10 minutes free for exit, ₩1,000 for the first 30 minutes, then ₩1,500 per additional 10 minutes. ₩30,000 daily. *Two hours free with an admission ticket. *One hour free when using a museum facility such as the café. *Closed every Monday; check parking-lot operations.
• Jangan-dong public parking: Open 24 hours / above ground. First 60 minutes free, then ₩500 per additional 10 minutes. ₩10,000 daily.

Low Five’s atmosphere and how to join the waitlist

Low Five, a Haenggung-dong date-night favorite, totally wins you over from the entrance... It feels like stepping into a secret garden, maybe? It is tucked right into nature, perfectly matching Haenggung-dong’s vibe. The foliage was so lush I almost missed it, haha.

It is a place with lots of weekday waiting too, so keep in mind that you can join at the entrance or through the Catch Table app~ I walked straight in at around 5:30 PM, but when I came out after eating, about two parties were waiting.

Inside, the wood-and-brick interior feels like a cozy house deep in the mountains from a storybook. It even reminded me a little of the Weasleys’ home in Harry Potter. There is a self-service station in the center with grated cheese and hot sauce, so grab some if you need it! But true to its reputation as a Haenggung-dong date spot, most tables were couples. What was I even doing when my husband and I were dating instead of coming to Haenggung-dong? Haha.

Low Five also has window seats! There are about four tables. I think we arrived around 5:30–5:40 PM on a weekday, and luckily there was an open table by the window! 🤩 They set up a high chair for us too.

Low Five’s menu and how everything tasted

You order from a tablet once you are seated! I liked that every menu item had a clear description. There was also a thoughtful note asking you to tell the staff if you have an aversion or allergy to any ingredients! For reference, Low Five’s signature corn pizza contains chili shrimp and paprika powder. Since we had a child with us, I asked if the spice could be adjusted, and they kindly offered to make it half-and-half! I was so grateful. 🙏❣️ For two adults and one child, we ordered: Corn pizza ₩25,000 Vongole pasta ₩18,000 Hot Pot Pescatore pasta ₩21,000 Coke Zero ₩3,000

Why is the corn pizza the signature menu?

🌽Corn pizza🍕 White truffle cream, bacon, chili shrimp, butter seasoning, grilled corn Now I get why everyone orders this. It was also why I chose Low Five. They put the chili shrimp and paprika powder on only one side for my child, who cannot eat spicy food, so we unexpectedly got to try two different versions, haha. Ah... was it the white truffle cream? The white cream on it was so delicious. It was slightly sweet with a lovely aroma, and while eating I could not decide whether it was garlic sauce; looking back at the menu description, it must have been truffle cream. The corn was warm and had a satisfying, super-sweet-corn-like bite too. Seriously, a dream combination 💛

What does the vongole pasta taste like?

🐚Vongole pasta🫒 Extra virgin olive oil, marsh clams, garlic, Reggiano cheese This is vongole pasta packed with marsh clams. I cannot call it an unusual flavor, but the clams were well purged, and although the sauce looked like it might not be enough, the pasta stayed moist until the end! I think anyone who likes oil-based pasta will enjoy it without issue.

The Hot Pot Pescatore pasta-and-pizza pairing

🌶️Hot Pot Pescatore pasta🦐 A spicy tomato pasta loaded with fresh seafood Wow, this... is a perfect match with the corn pizza! Rather than tasting like tomato pasta, it is a little like mala hot pot or tom yum goong—something along those lines. (I have only had each one once, so I am sorry I cannot be exact..ㅜㅜ) It has a really clean heat with a bright lime aroma, so it is spicy yet refreshing. Plus, it was packed with so much shrimp, squid, mussels, and clams that more kept appearing every time I dug in, and it had that cool, briny flavor too. It is seriously such a generous pasta! I was not even trying to cure a hangover, but I kept spooning up the broth, and dipping the pizza in it too lol. Is it obvious how enthusiastically I ate..? 😋 If I go again, the vongole is a safe choice, so I would probably try something else—but I definitely want to order the corn pizza and Hot Pot Pescatore again.

I was so happy to eat delicious food in Haenggung-dong, somewhere I had wanted to visit for ages. I am sure Low Five, a Haenggung-dong pizza and date-night restaurant, will be a reliably great stop! There are two Low Five locations in Haenggung, including the Sinpung branch, so do not give up just because you miss out on the waitlist—be sure to check both locations.
