First shot from visiting Burgiz Daeheung, a burger restaurant in Daeheung-dong, Daejeon

While looking for a lunch spot near Sungsimdang in Daejeon, I stopped by Burgiz Daeheung. It's about a two-minute walk from the Sungsimdang main store toward Daeheungdong Cathedral, so it's easy to combine the two. With a good variety of burgers and sides to pick from, I decided to visit with a group this time.

Inside Burgiz Daeheung: sunlit room and what seating to expect

Stepping inside, it was brighter and cleaner than I expected.

There are window seats and 2-to-4-person tables, so it seems fine whether you're grabbing a burger solo or coming with a group.

Sunlight pours in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the white tones are accented with a wood floor and green plants.

The HAMBURGERS sign on the wall and the merch-styled interior touches quietly catch your eye too. Overall it was clean and fuss-free, which made it a decent spot for photos.

Counter event notice and drink fridge

There was also a Burgiz event running at the counter, plus a drink fridge and a separate soda refill station.

On one side there's a handwashing area and a self-service bar, so it was easy to grab sauces or anything else you need yourself.

What a group ordered: three burgers plus sides

Here's what we ordered. This time we got three types of burgers plus a generous amount of sides.

  • Godfather ₩10,300
  • Avocado ₩10,800
  • Chicago ₩9,500
  • Pepperoni Cheese Fries ₩6,800
  • Buffalo Wings ₩6,800 × 2

Once it all came out together, the green tray was pretty packed and generous.

Godfather, Avocado and Chicago burgers compared

Signature Godfather burger and the Avocado burger

First up, Burgiz's signature, the Godfather. It's a beef patty burger with two slices of cheese, plus red onion and dill pickle. The rich flavor of the cheese and patty gets cut through by the onion and pickle, so it doesn't feel too heavy. If you like classic burger style, this one's a good place to start.

The Avocado burger has a completely different vibe. It's loaded with creamy avocado, a beef patty, crispy bacon, and fresh vegetables. The avocado portion was pretty generous, and you could really taste the soft, nutty flavor.

Chicago burger with pepperoni and arugula

The Chicago burger is a bit of a departure. With pepperoni, arugula, and roasted bell pepper, it's a combination that'll catch the eye of anyone who likes pizza. Worth picking if you want to try something different from a plain cheeseburger.

Pepperoni cheese fries and buffalo wings

For a side, we got the pepperoni cheese fries — French fries topped with pepperoni, cheese, and bacon crumble, making them much heartier than plain fries. Salty and rich, it was good for ordering one and sharing among the group.

Pepperoni cheese fries side dish

We ordered two portions of buffalo wings. The wings come fried to a golden brown, served with celery and a creamy sauce.

Crispy outside and juicy inside. Dipped in the sauce, they paired well as a burger side.

With burgers, fries, and wings all ordered differently, it ended up being a pretty filling meal.
