Bupyeong braised rib restaurant with cheese fried rice: Haemokjeong
In short
Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch is a large seafood and braised-rib restaurant on Hwarang-ro in Bupyeong, Incheon, a short walk from Baekun Station. Two diners ordered spicy pork galbijjim (braised pork ribs) for 2 at 35,000 won plus one serving of cheese fried rice, and the regular spice level was about as hot as Shin Ramyun, with rib meat that stayed tender rather than dry. Between the wide parking lot, the waiting area and the self-serve bar, Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch handles family gatherings and work dinners with ease.

I've been craving meat lately, so I looked into galbijjim (braised ribs) and found there are tons of galbijjim specialists in Bupyeong. I wanted something spicy and tender with fried rice on the side, so I headed to Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch for the spicy pork galbijjim.
It's actually closer to Baekun Station than to Bupyeong Station itself. Getting to Bupyeong Station takes about 10–15 minutes by bus. After eating, I walked over to a café near Bupyeong Station, which helped with digestion too, haha.
Haemokjeong is actually known for its seafood-rib jjim and boneless monkfish jjim, but the spicy pork galbijjim I had today was tender, spicy, and delicious too. They also have a lunch special menu (kalguksu noodles, stir-fried octopus, pork cutlet, etc.), so I'm planning to go back for that next time.
Parking and what the restaurant feels like inside

The parking lot is wide and clean, so you don't need to worry about finding a spot.

There's a huge menu board outside too, haha, so you can decide what to order before you even walk in.

It didn't come through in the photos, but the place is really spacious and comfortable! I went on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't crowded, but I imagine there's a wait at night. Good thing there's a waiting area — it really shows they're considerate of their guests.

There's also a self-serve bar, so you can help yourself without feeling shy about it, haha. The braised potatoes and seaweed soup among the side dishes were especially good.
Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch's main menu and prices
The main menu at Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch includes seafood-rib jjim, boneless monkfish jjim, spicy pork galbijjim, and chive-duck stir-fry. I chose the spicy pork galbijjim.
- Seafood-rib jjim, where you get both seafood and pork ribs at once
- Boneless monkfish jjim, stir-fried with fresh monkfish and a special sauce
- Spicy pork galbijjim, premium pork ribs stir-fried in a special sauce
- Chive-duck stir-fry, a perfect combo of domestic duck and spicy seasoning

Free side dishes and beef seaweed soup

Four side dishes, salad, and seaweed soup — the warm beef seaweed soup came out and I wanted to pour it over rice and eat it right then. But I held back for the fried rice dessert to come....
How spicy is the 35,000 won spicy pork galbijjim for 2 at regular heat?
Spicy pork galbijjim (for 2) ₩35,000
Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch's spicy pork galbijjim is ₩35,000 for two people, and the regular spice level was about as hot as Shin Ramyun — moderately spicy. If you like it spicier, you can order a hotter level and enjoy it even more.
They cook the spicy pork ribs beforehand and grill them at a low setting on the table so they stay warm. The sizzling sound off the griddle is enough to drive you crazy... What catches your eye first is the spicy sauce and tender rib meat, then the tons of rice cakes, mushrooms, cabbage, and other toppings that all look so good. I wanted to dig in right away but held off to eat it hotter (?). It really does taste better hot. Thanks to the vegetables on top, it was also fragrant and delicious.

Wow, can you tell from the photo how generous the portion is? Doesn't the rib meat look tender and juicy? It really wasn't tough at all — surprisingly soft, haha. And the pieces are all nice and big, so it's satisfying to eat.

There were 8 or more rice cakes too, and eating them together with the ribs, the tender spicy rib flavor paired perfectly with the chewiness of the tteokbokki-style rice cakes.

The juicy ribs and rice cakes were both soaked in the spicy sauce, and since I love spicy food I really enjoyed it. Honestly, at this point I wanted to add rice too, but I held back thinking about the fried rice coming later...
Cheese fried rice: one serving is enough for two
And here it comes!!!! Cheese fried rice arrives on the griddle!!!! We ordered just one serving for the two of us, and since the galbijjim was so filling, one serving should be plenty.

What surprised me was the mountain of cheese they piled on — I was shocked. There was a generous amount, and it was nutty and delicious. Make sure to add cheese when you order the fried rice.

Who should eat at Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch?
What impressed me most about the spicy pork galbijjim at Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch this time was the tender texture and moderately spicy flavor, along with chewy rice cakes and plenty of vegetables that added good texture — it was all delicious.

I'd recommend this to anyone near Bupyeong Station or Baekun Station looking for a place for a family gathering or work dinner, or anyone who wants a proper main dish like seafood jjim, galbijjim, or duck stir-fry. And it's great for those who want a hearty fried rice finish after the braised dishes.
