Daejeon burger restaurant at 11am opening: three burgers at Burgiz

On a nice day I went out for a little Daejeon trip and stopped by Burgiz Daeheung, a burger restaurant here in the city. It's about a two-minute walk from Sungsimdang's flagship store toward Daeheung-dong Cathedral, right across from the entrance to the Daejeon Lifelong Learning Center parking lot, so it wasn't hard to find.

Where Burgiz Daeheung is and when it opens

The green BURGIZ sign catches your eye from outside. Apparently "Burgiz" is a shortened way of saying "Burger is" — the brand started in Tanbang-dong, Daejeon, back in 2017.

Inside Burgiz Daeheung right at the 11am opening

I showed up almost right at 11am and there were already customers eating. By the time I'd ordered and started eating, the seats were nearly full — made me think this place is quite popular in Daeheung-dong.

Overall it's white-toned with wood furniture, so it feels clean but casual. Big windows let in plenty of sunlight, keeping the space bright.

They describe it as a reinterpretation of an American restaurant space, and the English-language signage scattered around

paired well with the green accent color.

The Burgiz menu and the open kitchen

You can see the whole menu above the counter, and the kitchen is open too.

There was a good variety of burgers, from Cheeseburger to Hangover, Avocado, and Mushroom. There are also sides like fries and buffalo wings, plus you can order Haritos or soda alongside.

The self-serve corner had sauces and everything else you'd need, and the soda machine was easy to use freely.

We ordered a set with a cola plus a Haritos Pineapple, and got two cups of ice.

The Haritos Pineapple was sweet with a nice sharp fizz, good to drink alongside the burgers. The cola was self-serve, so just enough to sip along!

Order three burgers plus sides and the table gets pretty loaded.

Even the green trays and wrapping paper matched, so the whole presentation looked pretty nice.

Burgiz's signature Hangover burger

First up was the Hangover burger — apparently Burgiz's signature item. With bacon, a crispy hash brown, a soft-boiled egg, and vegetables all piled on the patty, it looked pretty substantial the moment it arrived.

Too thick for one bite

The soft bun, juicy beef patty, and crispy hash brown texture all came through clearly, and with the spicy barbecue sauce on top, the overall flavor was rich and full.

If you prefer a heavy, loaded-up burger over a light and plain one, the Hangover will probably suit you well.

Crispy Original Fries, 4,000 won

I added the Original Fries as a single order too.

This is the fries that comes with the set — the portion was actually a bit smaller than the single order. The Original Fries were crispy outside with the potato texture still alive inside, good for eating between bites of burger. Dip them in ketchup and your hand just keeps going back for more.

Buffalo Wings, 6,800 won

I wanted to try a side besides fries, so I ordered the Buffalo Wings too. Golden-fried wings come out with sauce and celery. The outside is crispy, salty, and a little spicy. Goes well alongside the burgers, and would also be nice with beer.

Avocado burger, 10,800 won

The Avocado burger is, exactly as the name says, generously loaded with avocado.

It comes with beef patty, crispy bacon, avocado, and vegetables all together.

The creamy avocado softly balanced out the rich patty flavor, giving a completely different feel from the Hangover. Plenty of vegetables too, so the overall look was full and satisfying. If you like avocado, this one will hit the spot. Honestly! The Avocado burger was my favorite of the three.

Cheeseburger, 8,300 won: the no-frills classic

Last up was the Cheeseburger. A basic combination of beef patty, rich melted cheese, tomato, and vegetables. If you're into the pure patty-and-cheese combo more than flashy toppings, the Cheeseburger might actually be the one for you. The bun was soft, and the rich flavor of patty and cheese came through clearly.

Trying all three, each menu item had a really distinct personality, so it was easy to pick according to your taste.

Is Burgiz Daeheung worth a stop near Sungsimdang?

If you're looking for a place to eat near Sungsimdang and burgers sound good, Burgiz Daeheung is a solid stop. Soft buns and beef patties as the base, with clear topping combinations for each menu item, made it fun to pick and choose. It's also close to Sungsimdang's flagship store, so it's convenient to fold into a Daejeon trip or a Daeheung-dong date course. If you're looking for a good burger restaurant in Daejeon, this one is worth a visit.
