The price was easy on the wallet too, around ₩11,000. And with unlimited noodle refills, you can eat until you're full. Looking at the menu, the makguksu (buckwheat noodles) looked delicious too. It felt like a shame to leave without trying anything else — I got curious about the other menu items. Next visit, I'm definitely planning to try the makguksu.

The savory broth aroma wafting from the entrance already had my feet moving toward the door as if hypnotized! Once inside, I was welcomed by an incredibly clean, spacious space. Unlike the usual musty smell or old-fashioned vibe you'd expect from a "sundaeguk place," the pleasant and stylish interior had me melting with good feelings before I even tasted the food. The self-bar was kept so incredibly clean, and being able to freely take as much as you need was really lovely. My heart raced with anticipation waiting for the moment I'd drop noodle sari into the broth! 💓

After ordering, they bring out the basic side dishes — the kimchi here was quite delicious. Any side dish you're short on, you can grab yourself from the self-bar.

The food came out faster than expected, and the table was set generously full.

The portions are generous, there's no trace of the funky smell typical of sundaeguk, and with noodles added as a topping, it makes for a hearty meal! You can grab extra noodles from the self-bar anytime.

How does the spicy sundaeguk with sausage only taste?

Finally, the star of today's meal, the spicy sundaeguk, arrived bubbling away in its stone pot! The moment I saw that red broth boiling hot in the bowl, I let out an involuntary "wow..."

A stone pot of spicy sundaeguk with bubbling red broth

Spicy sundaeguk (sausage only). I took a big first spoonful of broth into my mouth and... oh my, this had to be recognized as a life-changing bowl of gukbap! 😭❤️ It wasn't just spicy for the sake of spice — a deep, savory base from long-simmered ox bone broth blended perfectly with a special seasoning, bursting with umami in every bite. A bit spicier than Shin Ramyun but never harsh on the stomach, it soothed everything away — the textbook definition of "deliciously spicy"!

Inside the spicy sundaeguk, packed with traditional sundae and meat

And the amount of meat and sundae (blood sausage) packed into the stone pot? So generous! Plump, well-filled traditional sundae, tender head meat, and organs filled the pot to the brim — I kept eating and eating and it never seemed to end. Not a hint of funky smell or off-flavor; the meat was nutty with every chew and the sundae had an artfully chewy texture.

After scooping out most of the meat and sundae, I added noodle sari to the broth and slurped it down... ah! That's a happiness I truly can't put into words! Finishing it off by mixing in a bowl of rice with a well-fermented piece of kkakdugi on top melted away all of life's worries. ✨

Abai sundae: packed with real vegetables and meat inside, so one bite spreads a nutty flavor gently across your whole mouth. Add a bit of the mu-malaengi (dried radish strip) side or salted shrimp on top and it feels like eating a fancy dish!

Hangover cure: why hwangtae haejangguk beats sundaeguk

This is the hwangtae haejangguk (dried pollack hangover soup). As expected, the clear broth was incredibly rich and delicious. If your goal is curing a hangover, I recommend hwangtae haejangguk over sundaeguk. It's really deep. I highly recommend it.

Honestly, everything here is done well. 👍👍👍 So if you come, you'll understand exactly why I'm recommending it, haha.
