In short
Hurato Sikdang Isu Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) restaurant in Dongjak, Seoul, a five-minute walk from Isu Station. On a weeknight 8pm reservation, two friends ordered one gyukatsu set (₩19,500) and one steki (steak) set (₩19,500), grilled the beef to taste on individual tabletop braziers and shared both. Hurato Sikdang is the first place that comes to mind near Isu Station whenever I have plans with a friend or crave a refined, upscale Japanese set menu — it's my go-to gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) spot! 🥩✨ I love gyukatsu and have hunted it down at plenty of places, but the fun of grilling your own crispy-outside, juicy-rare beef on your own personal brazier, exactly to your taste, plus that deep savory flavor — Hurato Sikdang still tops them all. The interior is cozy and clean too, so if you're looking for a date spot near Isu Station, I'd recommend it.

Booking a weeknight 8pm table five minutes from Isu Station
Hurato Sikdang is on the 2nd floor of the building, and there's a standing sign out front so it's easy to spot. It's under a 5-minute walk from Isu Station. I had booked for 8pm but arrived earlier than expected, called to ask if it was okay to come in early, and they were happy to have me. Being a weeknight evening, it wasn't too crowded yet. They run a waitlist through Catch Table, so I'd say go before it gets even more popular.

This Isu Station gyukatsu restaurant, Hurato Sikdang, started from its flagship location in Gyeongbokgung and has built a huge following on authentic gyukatsu and Japanese set menus. We decided to order two of the signature sets here and split them. I ordered the gyukatsu (₩19,500) and my friend ordered the steki set (₩19,500).
The gyukatsu set: grilling beef cutlet on your own brazier
The long-awaited gyukatsu set finally arrived, beautifully arranged on a neat tray! Fresh, bright-red rare beef wrapped in a thin, savory fried coating — an unmistakable look. 🥩 Coming straight from work and starving probably made it look even better. Once they light the personal brazier at your table, you place a piece of gyukatsu on it and grill it front and back to a sizzle, exactly to your liking. Being able to cook it to whatever doneness you want (medium rare, medium, etc.) is genuinely the best part.

A single piece of gyukatsu from Hurato Sikdang, an Isu Station gyukatsu specialist! Dab a well-grilled piece with a touch of wasabi and dip it in the special soy sauce, chili sauce, or coarse salt — the outside stays crispy while the inside bursts with tender juice that melts away almost instantly. (Writing this post is making me want it again.)

What does the steki set at Hurato Sikdang taste like?
Lay a slice of steki on the brazier and grill it to a golden brown, and the butter aroma blends with the tender juices for a burst of nuttiness with every bite. Pair it with wasabi or salt for a clean yet deep flavor. Personally, I liked the steki set even more. If you're into yakiniku style, this is right up your alley.

The steki set we ordered alongside the gyukatsu at this Isu Station beef cutlet restaurant is beef quickly seared only on the surface, then sliced tender and thin. It's a popular menu item where you can savor the deep, rich, meaty flavor of the beef itself, distinct from gyukatsu. 🔥 One crispy, savory bite of gyukatsu followed by a soft, clean bite of steki — that's the dream combo right there! If you're visiting as a pair, I highly recommend ordering one gyukatsu and one steki set and sharing them.

If you're near Isu Station and craving a refined, elegant Japanese meal, or want to try grilling your own beef on your own personal brazier exactly to your taste, be sure to stop by Hurato Sikdang, the best gyukatsu restaurant around Isu Station!
