Today I visited Songnim Bok Jangeo, a popular Baegot restaurant known as an all-you-can-eat eel spot in Siheung :) You can enjoy as much eel as you like, plus pork belly and duck neck too, so the value was really satisfying~

Where is Songnim Bok Jangeo in Siheung Baegot, and where can you park?
- Location: 43-7 Seouldaehak-ro 278beon-gil, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi
- Hours: daily 11:30 to 23:00
- Parking available

Songnim Bok Jangeo also runs several branches, including Seongsu and Sinchon in Seoul, and in southern Gyeonggi!

The Baegot direct branch has a roomy underground parking garage in the building, so driving there is easy. Access is good too, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a Baegot restaurant.

Songnim Bok Jangeo's atmosphere and opening event
Inside the Baegot direct branch there were about 15 tables, and the dining area and self-bar were neatly kept, so it was a pleasant place to eat.

As an opening event they're giving out bokbunja wine (Korean black raspberry wine), a perfect match for eel, so do check before you go!

How much is the all-you-can-eat eel at Songnim Bok Jangeo?
The unlimited freshwater eel is ₩29,900 for adults and ₩14,000 for children. There are also meal dishes you can order alongside to suit your taste.

The barley tea served by default was nice and toasty too. At first the staff set up the side dishes, eel, pork belly and duck neck for you, and after that you use the self-bar.

What side dishes are on the self-bar?
The self-bar was kept really clean, and what caught my eye was the mountain of eel piled up! At buffets you sometimes feel awkward asking for more, but here you can take as much as you want yourself, which was far more comfortable. If you're looking for an eel buffet in Siheung, this system is a big plus.

There was no shortage of sides to go with the eel. With so many ways to eat it, I never got tired of it.
- Pickled ginger
- Pickled onion
- White kimchi
- Green onion kimchi
- Pickled perilla leaves
- Garlic
- Chili peppers
- Ssamjang (dipping paste)
- Lettuce wraps and greens
- Sesame oil
- Eel sauce

2-hour time limit and 650g eel takeout for 35,000 won
The buffet time limit is 2 hours, and takeout is ₩35,000 for 650g, a price that makes it easy to bring home and enjoy!

How were the pork belly and duck neck meat?
I grilled the pork belly and duck neck first. There are so many great pork belly places these days that I found the pork belly just so-so.

I'd never had duck neck before. The texture is similar to chicken neck but much more tender. Thanks to that soft bite, I personally think it's the best duck cut haha
How thick is the eel at Songnim Bok Jangeo?
Just look at the thickness of this eel.. I've never seen such big, thick eel, omg. No wonder people call it a top eel spot in Baegot.

Grilling eel by the guide on the wall
Check out the guide on the wall for grilling eel well too!

- Grill skin-side down first
- Cook both sides thoroughly
- Trim off the fins and cut into bite-size pieces
- Finally, stand the pieces up to cook the sides evenly and you're done
Even from the photo you can feel that thick, springy texture, right?

Finally, stand the pieces up to cook the sides evenly and it's done! Eel usually crumbles or shrinks as it cooks, but here it kept its thick texture to the end, so it was really satisfying to chew. The juices stayed in too, and the quality was hard to believe for an all-you-can-eat place...!!

Pairings that cut the richness, and the final verdict
Rich eel can get heavy if you eat a lot, but topping lettuce and perilla leaves with pickled ginger and pickles cuts the greasiness completely, so you can keep going and going haha
I didn't expect much quality from an eel buffet in Siheung, but Songnim Bok Jangeo was satisfying, with eel that was much thicker and fresher than I expected, plus pork belly and duck neck too! I'd recommend it if you want a good-value eel place in Siheung, are looking for a family outing spot, or want to enjoy a hearty eel meal in Baegot.
